yeah seems strange, unless he glanced the shoulder/upper back and didn't hit the neck/head? footage i saw couldn't tell.
They charged him with misconduct (fine) instead of striking (1week), which I would love hear the explanation for.

Mitchell was charged with misconduct , does that make a difference to the charts ?

I am totally confused

Burton on Higgins - thought if you chose to bump , and a clash if heads, accident or not you were in trouble.

Mitchell striking , where is the ball ?

Selwood striking did not even hit Thomas.

Maybe I need to follow netball or touch football or something.

Misconduct is a fixed fine, table irrelevant..... but it was clearly a strike.

AFL misconduct “conduct which would be regarded unacceptable or unsportsmanlike by other participants in the match or where it had the effect or the potential to prejudice the reputation of any person, club or the AFL or to bring the game of football into disrepute.” .... maybe elbowing off the ball was added for 2018, maybe.

I like the bump decision regardless of everything that came before. It was an accidental head clash resulting from legally applied hip-n-shoulder.

Was listening to Sen1116 on rhe way home from work and there was a caller ( Hawthorn Supporter) who said there was a precedent with this type of incident. He referred to Corey Enright from Geelong who was fined for a similar act. Admittedly it was his first offence. Not sure how this will play out.

Good find! Just had a look at Enright's one, and it seems worse!

Just looking at it now... I didn't think the Lindsay hit was that bad actually. I guess in slow motionit makes him look worse... But really, thought he was trying to go pretty low. Sellwood seemed to lead with the chin and was just a bit unlucky. which was pretty silly. Think jelwood inflamed the situation and looked worse. I guess I'm in the minority though.

All I know is that since 2005 the AFL has been tried and tried to get a system that issues appropriate penalties on a consistent basis. And after all that time we have arrived at this drivel. It seems to take into account a lot things that don't matter by people that have all day to consider a decision, a lot of personal interpretation that seems to depend on what side of the bed they get out of and just ends up being a load of masturbation.

I thought that way, after seeing the initial incident, feeling it was pretty bad, then leaving it a couple of days.

Then I rewatched it - realtime - and it's bad. You can't do that on a footy field anymore. The ball was there, he wasn't shepherding in any way - doesn't matter how low you go. And it's hard to take it in isolation when Thomas has done similar things so many times.

Christiansan comments in the herald sun does not sound promising for sicily owners. he has indicated that it was intentional and its unacceptable especially when atley is lying on the fall. i reakon his gone for 2-3 weeks. i get the impression it wont result in a fine. i hope im wrong.

i am a sicily owner and this sort of stuff cant be happening especially when he was rubbed out a few weeks ago.

Also an owner. Looks bad, off the ball, intentional, dog of an act. His only compensating factor is he got his other foot down quickly and may have had limited weight on the leg. This may help to get it down from 3 weeks to 1-2 weeks. The lack of remonstration from the north player would support this I expect. Depends what medical reports say when he was treated off field.

Whether the enright example applies today is hard to say.

Sicily is gone for me, even if it's only one week. The bloke is way too hotheaded.
If Sicily wasn't such a useful Def/Fwd (in regards as to being useful in getting in CCs), then I would be tempted as well.

bermi raises a good point. the dpp especially fwd/back for me is vital. i get sicily is toby greene 2.0 but im prepared for the consequences. i thought that clarko would have gotten into his ear about the first incident earlier this year. i didnt expect this to happen again. when do we find out the result?

The tribunal will sit tonight so we'll know the result then.

As annoying as Sicily is it will be business as usual for me. 2 weeks hold, 3 weeks trade.
He's scoring very well.

Any idea if result will be known before tonight's game?
They usually start the hearing around 6pm on the day. As there are 2 cases being heard, Thomas and Sicily, it will depends on the order of the hearings and how long they take to deliberate and decide on any sanctions if applicable.

***...and he played with it since, why not this round!

With Sicily likely to also be suspended, not looking forward to fielding 3 rookies...hang on, I might have none next week!
