What a dumpster fire my club has become. Furious is an understatement.
I knew you'd be unhappy, and looking at that deal, I think you have every right to be pissed!
It's like they undersold Howard, and gave Ryder away as steak knives anyway.
A sceptic might think, that there is something about Howard, that other clubs don't know.
Not me though, I think it was just a poor deal.

Or a future-favour coming back Ports way ?

There must be two kids in the top end of the draft that they really want. Saints bolstered their squad and moved up the draft, so it really does feel like Port got reamed in this one! Good Facebook fodder today given the grief they’ve been giving us Crows fans lately though ?

I don’t mind losing Howard, I’d have preferred to keep him but at the end of the day if a player wants to leave then I’m all for it - for the right price. I dont agree with him selecting a club, but there isn’t much anyone can do about that established practice, it’s a different argument for a different time.

What I’m fuming about is the 10 - 12 pick swap. We should have got 12 out of it and they should have been keeping 18. It just doesn’t make any sense, there no guarantees that our target player would be there at 5, 10 or 12 for that matter, we’ve significantly lowered our potential draft value for absolutely no reason.

The disconnect between the club and supporters has grown wider and wider every year since Ken was extended and to me it feels like they couldn’t care less about it.

It’s a menial gesture but they’ve done enough for me to not renew my membership for the first time since I was 16 years old. Renewals are due on the 17th so I’ve got my fingers crossed that there are 1000s like me who have just had enough of their crap.

It just doesn’t feel like the club that shipped a 16 year old country boy like me off to the big smoke, found me a job and welcomed me with open arms, with no motivation other than to see what I could make of myself as a footballer.

This club means more to me than most - but at the moment, I don’t want anything to do with them.

What sort of favour though? Can’t be draft related. We have one of the weakest drafts in a decade, followed by the most compromised draft since GWS entered the comp. Even if there is a huge favour we won’t see any benefits from it for 3 bloody years.

Such a sad state to see the club in for its 150th year.

Hawthorn's Father/Son Finn Maginness is now a good chance at being picked before our pick 11, meaning we would need to burn our first pick in order to match the bid. To avoid this happening, would Melbourne be willing to trade pick 8 to the hawks for 11 and 42 (or maybe the pick we get from the blues for Pittonet)? This would allow the Hawks to draft someone at 8 and still get Finn. Melbourne have been rumored to be interested in Cody Weightman, who is projected to be closer to 11 than 8. Thoughts

Maginness had really good results at the draft combine, 3 top 10 results including beating the old 2km record time, wouldn't surprise me if he was a top 10 pick.

Don't see Melbourne doing that trade, but it could be beneficial for the Hawks for sure. Also don't see Smith leaving now. I know the Dogs apparently showed some interest weeks ago, but nothing more came of that. Guess we'll see tomorrow.

I’d be very happy if the Daniher deal fell through and we had another year to work things out. Hope it doesn’t turn into a Cam McCarthy scenario and we can convince Joe to stay like we did with Francis.

Although not being offered, Pick 5 and 9 for Joe is admitedly overs but we need a KPF like Joe so I would reject that deal as well if I was Dodoro myself.

Not everyone would agree but that’s my 2 cents.

I don't understand the Daniher situation. Different clubs involved I know but Hawks get Patton for a future 4th and Essendon want two first round picks?!

Both players have injury issues etc but there seems to be a big difference.

Also, Smith to Melb = (n) I can still see him missing that goal after the siren against Geelong in 2016...but love him as a player at the Hawks.

My thoughts on the difference is that Essendon actually want to keep Daniher where GWS didn’t want Patton. Daniher is one of Essendon’s highest paid players, a B&F winner and All Australian and is their best key position forward by the length of the Flemington straight. It sounds like Essendon are confident he is over his OP issues that have hampered his last two years and they genuinely don’t want to lose him as they see him as one of their keys to ultimate success. By comparison, Patton was not GWS best forward and they are desperate to clear salary space. Trade values reflect perceived value to seller and Essendon would prefer not to sell.
