Yeah Parker is the better option and probably better off sitting on the bench
I'm trying to avoid the bad rookie this year. I don't mean the one who looks good and turns out bad like Brayshaw because you've got to pick someone. I mean the one who looks bad and turns out bad like Garlett that people take just because there is no one else available. I'd rather lose a keeper and budget for an expensive cash cow or two with job security like a Walsh, Rankine, Roberton type.

Oh what Relton Roberts could've been :)

I think that’s a good strategy, I was really against getting Garlett myself but because of the extended benches didn’t know if there was anyone else to choose, wasn’t surprised when did nothing

So what are everyone's thoughts at this stage regarding picking a floating donut to start? I always like to take in one at M11 that I think will eventually play. My placeholder for this role is Boyd Woodcock from Port. He is a SANFL premiership player last year at North and I think will get games for them. A handy M11 Mid/Fwd. Noah Answerth as a Mid/Def from the Lions another one high on my list.

I have read report (pretty sure in BF) that he is in the frame for rd 1 but JLT will tell the story. I have him as one of my mid rookies ATM.

I have decided to stop using FD because I found by rd 2 or 3 I often had one or two on top of the designated hitter! Sure this will happen again this year.

I normally have a Ruck/Forward Rookie in the Ruck Emergency as a floating donut and have a Fwd/Ruc Keeper in the Forward line. Like Bines/Westhoff.

If Setterfield doesn't make round 1, I'll even consider an expensive FD to play later, even though I won't necessarily be able to use him rnd1. Grundy will be VC in game 2 of the round... A crazy score may mean I need 2 FDTPL's. I really value the fact they will come in and play soon, because invariably there is an injury or VFL game lined up for some of my rookies.

I think Sweet, Forte, Clarke may mean I want R3 for a rookie for R3, which may make it difficult to to put an RF FD at F8. M11 I think is probably best.

Very interested in 1 (or 2) potential FDTP's this year as it worked for me a few years ago. Might just take a bit of a fixture analysis too for prospective players being used in that way.

I would prefer a donut to play rather than a permanent donut. Mumford is an expensive one, Gaff is a more expensive one. Setterfield is good after rnd 1 but it does mean locking in a captain rnd1. There have been some excellent ones in the past. Terlich, Hartley, Petracca etc. Relton Roberts was a donut to be that I started one year.

Just wait till the real stuff starts and GCS can't win a clearance, the ball will never be down there!
I won't be picking any GCS KPF's unless the barrel is pretty much empty come round 1.

On the plus side, GCS has about as easy an opening draw as you're gonna get, one for the glass half full types I guess.

On that logic you'd want a piece of Sam Collins for sure... marking and spoiling practice all day long for GC defenders and he can certainly clunk a grab.
