Rucks were disappointing
Thankyou Ward, Priddis (C) and GAJ

Do you feel like that gets me into the Top 3000?

Anyone who watched the game tell me why McGovern was so meh? Kind of expected the odd crap score, hope it's not business as usual...

Mate I traded him in last year after about round 6 when he was on fire, then those meh scores became the norm.

He's KPP mate, get used to low scores. Can't intercept mark when eagles are kicking 150+ points.

Missed most of the first quarter to have some strapping done and played the majority of the second half in the forward line, making leads to the flank to open up the forward line for JJK and their smalls.

How the game panned out did not suit his role, was lucky to get past 50 really.

Remember this...

  • Round 1 score is all about positioning your team for the season long assault. As long as it wasn't an absolute disaster, I wouldn't look too hard at them.
  • Are you happy with your overall team structure, was there an oversight, did you make a last minute 'panic' decision which you now regret or did you endured an LTI or suspension? These are the only VALID reasons to change your team, NOT based on the players' first round score. Round 2 is best serve for making these corrections as you'd most likely need the trades come round 3 to cement the Rookies in your team.
  • I trust that most of us will have the majority pool of the required rookies available for round 1. I would advise against making any rookie trades end the end of this round, at least have another look in the next round to ensure that you make a CONSIDERED decision.
  • You select premiums with a view to keep them for the whole season barring injury/suspension, so you shouldn't be worry about their prices dropping due to a low score.
  • ONE round does not define your season, there's another 22 rounds to go. YES, it's nice to get off to a good start and enjoyed the feeling that you've nailed ALL your selections. In contrast, your season WILL be defined by how you intend to use your 30 trades and when!
I hope that everyone will get past this round with minimal concern along the injury/suspension front. It's great to have SC back and remember that the MOST important thing is to have FUN!

Absolutely. The other thing to consider (example here only), if you think Nic Nat will average 110 for the season - after yesterday's game he'll "only" have to average 108 to meet that average...

Hmm think this could be a "sliding doors" moment, had Rich for most of the preseason and in the last week "upgraded" him to Gibson. Starting to regret that now.....

Thing to remember with the likes of NicNat and Priddis and Ablett and Hall is that they won't have Essendon and Brissy to beat up on every week. If your premos had a down week, they'll have their up weeks too.

That being said i had a gut feeling Pendles might have a down year, had him in my team early but he didn't make the cut. Given how horrible Collingwood looked, seems like that might be a good call.

I know it's a small sample but looking at my 3-4 other non SCS leagues, our SCS R1 scores looking quite respectable so far. Would be fair to say from what I've seen on here we're in the ave 2100-2300 range with some nice outliers like Maso and Wo Fat (well done fellas). Here's hoping SCS off to a big start in the leagues.
