Titch into Oliver.

Second week in a row I won’t VC/C Macrae. Will he hurt me again?!

Strange nobody has selected NN in the poll.

Going Titch into Macrae. Would prefer Oliver if I could VC him into Macrae but he's hard to trust with the threat of a Steele tag as captain. Seems unlikely and Steele would probably go to Petracca anyway, but I don't like the possibility of it.

Reckon Ross is more the worry tag wise than Steele. Ross has done a couple of pretty good jobs since coming back from injury negating players (e.g. Neale). This year Steele has been given much more freedom to win his own footy and hurt the opposition himself, whilst also still bringing his tackle and pressure.

However as you say, Petracca the more likely target of receiving attention over Oliver anyway you'd think.

Ross has been doing the most of the tagging duty since his return, Steele has been used as their main midfielder. If anything, opposition teams have tried to tag Steele in parts of game! I've had Steele since R5 and I can't recall him playing that hard tagging role since.

I thought the only player Ross has tagged the past two seasons has been Neale and he's only done it because Neale is so good and he's a perfect match up for him.

Steele has still tagged Cripps and Boak this year despite tagging a lot less. On recent history you would say he shouldn't tag but Oliver/Tracca have been amongst the leagues best players this year and may warrant a tag.

Because Ross was so effective last week I can also see him getting the job.

correct, mids have been able to take advanatge of essendon recently

while macrae will find it tough against a geelong midfield that barely leaks points

will be going titch -> hopefully no one coz i dont trust anyone else haha
The only concern would be if Essendon decide to put the Clarke tag on Mitchell. Still think he’s a pretty good choice though. And Essendon haven’t tagged much if at all this year.
I imagine the game will be ugly and congested so lots of point on offer for CPs and that points to Titch again.

Just on this is there actually any logic in feeling like you are more trapped with a C getting tagged than if he was a VC ? Or that you can take more of a risk on a VC if both the C & VC are gonna score what they are gonna score regardless? Just having a thought here.....I'd always just assumed it made sense but hadn't thought much about it.

I guess that if Oliver scored poorly as VC because he gets tagged I would take Macrae as C and even if he played badly by his own standards you'd be looking at a 110-115. If Macrae only scores 110-115 I would have to take Oliver as C who may only score 80 odd with a tag. That explains it away.

Titch or NN into Macrae, leaning towards Titch. I reckon that NicNat will be really tired given the short turnaround and won't go as ballistic as he otherwise might (he may even get rested). On the other hand he has a very easy match up.
J Macrae:
Avg VS Geel since 2014: 95.57 from 7 (low of 71 and a high of 124, 4/7 below 100, 1/7 120+)
Last 3 VS Geel: 108 from 3 (low of 84 and a high of 124, 1/3 below 100, 1/3 120+)
2019 Wins Avg: 128.53 from 12 (0/12 below 100, 8/12 120+)
2019 Losses Avg: 116.7 from 10 (3/10 below 100, 5/10 120+)
2020 Wins Avg: 123.57 from 7 (2/7 below 100, 4/7 120+)
2020 Losses Avg: 132 from 6 (1/6 below 100, 3/6 120+)

Only two games vs Geelong since he’s been Super premo so I’m inclined to ignore the historical scores.

Gee that is a tantalising score by TMitch. Any other week you probably roll the dice on somebody else however this week it is hard to be confident that anybody will beat it. Another 10 points and you probably lock it in without question. Is it worth the risk for 10 points?

I suspect league matchups will influence my decision here.

My thoughts exactly. Match-up has Vc on NN, with C on Oliver (who I have too). But unlike me, he doesn’t have Hawkins, Macrae, or Jelly. And I wanted to sleep well tonight 😬
