Strategy Round 18: Trades

Those coaches still hanging onto their precious few remaining trades, which camp are you in...?

• Guaranteed of League Finals so will hold until the start of SC Finals
• Consider doing a 'luxury' trade in an effort to make League Finals
• Will finally trade to complete my team

Also those of us hoping for Jiath as a value season long Keeper may have to reconsider pending the result of his scans.

Was Whitfield subbed off due to concussion or just a bad migraine...? How bad is Langford's hamstring...?

Personally, I'll be on the Whitfield watch throughout the week and planning/hoping for no trades unless selections throws me a curve ball or two.

Will consider Weightman to Jordon De Goey if no signs of Dunkley.

Will most likely be trading Jiath to someone like Harris Andrews and try and ride that out.

Then sit on my one remaining trade. Bianco to cover Whitfield.

Would like to hold onto my trades, but Whitfield and Langford not playing will be putting pressure on me to trade. I'm not guaranteed to be in the top 8 in all my Leagues. Not to mention, 6 of my 8 Emergencies didn't play this week.

I am hoping to sit tight on 3 trades this week unless dealing with an LTI or donut.

I would love a spike score from Bianco or Sharp next week as they are my only current playing rookies and I am keen for one of them to reach $260k on the off chance I can squeeze in an upgrade of D6/M8/F6 later on, or pickup an Uber premium when trading around LTIS.

Have Whitfield and Langford.
Sounds like Whitfield will miss, which tbh seems a sensible decision.
Think Langford will, too.
Could stretch from Bianco, but only to a Brodie Smith / Luke McDonald type.
Probably makes sense to just cop Bianco and wait on Whitfield.
Temptation to trade there, but only have three left

Went with a donut last week because of CCJ, Walker and Briggs all going out. Held my position because everyone else bar Houston smashed it.

Hopefully one of the above is back and so no trades.

Already have Greene at F5 so ideally would not like another KPF but things are looking bare down forward

1. Daniher > Tom McD or Hawkins or Bolton or Marshall
2. Butcher > Wines or Boak or Parker
3. Save the trade

Traded in Butters last week, so now have to use my second last trade to get him out.
Marshall in it is.

Have Whitfield, Madden can cover.

I am using my last trade on Sidebottom.
Bloke is a dud.
Picked him over Zorko in round 7 for whatever reason. Painful.
Hawkins in.
If I want a bloke that's gonna be up and down I at least want a bloke with a huge ceiling.

Madden, Bramble/Newcombe, Reeves & CCJ/FMacrae my cover for the rest of the year.
Hopefully no fwd injuries lol.

Currently have Highmore at D6, Laird in the mids, Daniher F6. Bianco, Waterman, Jeka as playing emergencies.

Considering:
1. Daniher to Marshall. Hold second trade, look to upgrade highmore next week. Hope that Highmore/Guthrie price gap shortens enough for straight swap

2. Highmore to Guthrie/Petracca/Simpkin, Edwards to Dual nuff (allowing coverage for a mid out).
a. Upgrade Daniher next week
b. Run Daniher as F6

My first thought was ‘Butcher! Who’s Butcher?’ So a bit slow this morning 😁. However I think the Daniher trade is worth doing - likely to get better value out of it. I’d probably go Marshall and hope he stays good. His TOG seems to be growing and St Kilda have a bit of momentum but Bolton attractive too.

I've got 2 trades left, Daniher at F6 and a likely hamstring issue with Langford at F5 with no cover. I'm still looking to go Daniher to Marshall, and wear the donut from Langford this week. With Hipwood out, Daniher gets the best defender and probably less ruck time, less roaming. He is a liability. Fully expect to be in front after 4 rounds with a single donut from Langford.
