Obviously you'd want to wait another week but I might want to jump on something the week after
Good point and while i know people will always think trading this week is knee-jerkish (which it is), if you need to make 2 rookie corrections next week, this is the week to make any corrections/structural changes you've identified before price movements.

In the end I'll hold back for at least another week because all of my keepers and my one stepping stone haven't done much to change my mind. All my premo's delivered with Grawndy, Z Williams and Heeney the only under whelming player. I suspect I'll be trading Collins down after Round 2 and at least having over 100k in the bank if I do so. If a player gets injured (which I don't want) I could also use 15k from a trade to allow me to trade him up to Darcy Moore.

In my view it is madness to trade anybody out or in after 1 game; rookies included. I remember a few years ago the masses jumped off PCripps after round 1 when he scored in the 40s and a few weeks later he got 170 odd against St Kilda in NZ.

The only trade I would consider after round 1 is an LTI or if one of the low scoring rookies was dropped

It's looking like anything outside of 2-2-4 defense is going to be problematic imo. Might be knee jerkish but if you're starting 3 or more rookies down back, it could get difficult to fix real quick.

I don't disagree but there's always the exception to the rule. Kreuzer to Grundy after rd 1 last year was season defining for a lot of teams...and for those that held Kreuzer because they had cover in English, it had the opposite effect.

I'm just playing the devil's advocate here but what i'm saying it, don't be afraid to break the 'rules' because it can work out for you.

Oliver to Fyfe after next round if Oliver doesn’t step up
Try to stick by your keepers, unless their roll has changed or they're playing with a niggle they will come good. Oliver's 71 is his 2nd lowest score in 2 years. I'll be backing him in against the Cats.

Oliver vs Geelong.
102, 123, 127 and 111 in last year's elimination final.
115 average.

Yeah it could be Burgess to Schultz and Collins to Ridley come next week, I have 41k in the bank at the moment. I'm 3k off Moore and 5k off Ballard unfortunately.

Yeah I’d be shocked if both those rookies didn’t need correcting this week or next. Limited info of course but if they didn’t score well today, in a relatively even match, I’m not sure when they will.

Burgess almost definitely won't improve, Collins is unlikely to barring a role change. Both were dominant state league players but don't look athletic at the AFL level. I talked Collins down for much of the preseason along with Gibbons at stages because I thought the fact that they weren't recruited when dominating state league football meant recruiters "knew" they wouldn't transition and it was a red flag. I then think that I've fallen for it myself in the case of Collins (I still have some faith in Gibbons). Rory Thompson's injury has basically destroyed Collins as he's playing that absurdly lock down role Stewy likes, why? I don't really know. Burgess I couldn't really avoid with my structure, it was either he, Petruccelle or Balta and I thought he'd at least have job security.

Ridley scored 71 today in a shocking performance by the team so I think he and Schultz would be decent corrections. Don't feel like I will be trying to get a rocky or sheed type, I'll back my original picks. Boak is completely safe in my side as a mid pricer, Brodie Smith is just there to make some coin and Z Williams will stay even if he scores a 60 so I'm pretty confident I can wait til next week. If there's an injury I'll make enough money from the trade to allow Collins to Darcy Moore at D4.

Quick note to anyone considering bringing Goldy in- maybe hold off for a week. In his last game against the Lions he scored 61, breaking a long streak of 100+ scores after Martin and McInerney shared ruck time and effectively double-teamed him. I expect us to try something similar again, against the Eagles they both rotated through the bench a lot and had low TOG but high DT:SC, 29:84 for McInerney!

Collins -> Wilkie/Joyce (whoever is still named of those two with Brown returning, if both named then probably Joyce based on @Connoisseur analysis)

Balta -> Schultz (if schultz is dropped)
