Yeah but who knows what issues arise after the next round and you get another look at the best rookie(s) to bring in on the bubble
Fair enough. I don't know what your team looks like, but you're right, you've got 4 trades to technically use before prices rise, so if you're pretty well stocked with all the core rookies, then go for it.

I had earmarked Walsh before Rowell got injured. But after watching Mitchell I'm choosing him. Those with concerns could go Walsh or Brayshaw, both good picks I reckon
Do you reckon other teams will be as stupid as Essendon and not attempt to shut him down? I suppose with the Hawks being in an effective rebuild most teams probably won't need to, and he'll rack em up anyway, like last year.

Rowell has to go, and I'm contemplating also bringing in Jordon early. However, he would only be coming in for a FWD rookie (probably Brockman), which means I'd lose my F/M link.

Only alternative to this is to trade Rowell to a FWD premium (i.e.: Rowell to Jordon in MID, then Brockman to Heeney in FWD).

OR, simply trade Rowell to a MID premium (i.e.: Taranto), or even a DEF premium (i.e.: Z. Williams, swing Laird to MID), and then wait for Jordon, maybe other rookies become trade-out options.

Thoughts?

I think with the news of Harmes, I will go early this week on Cahill to Jordan, two free up trades next week in the case I have to deal with Duggan or Grundy

My current rookies are:

Highmore, Koschintske, Sharp, Campbell, Dow, Gulden, Powell, Scott, Berry, Flynn, Warner, Rowe, Fullarton, Cahill

So I think Jordan is the only 'cheap' rookie I'm missing.

Swaps Scott/Campbell forward and still maintains M/F link?

Really not sure to write-off Cahill yet, but leaning this way.

Thought I read he may have a concern with ribs.

Think I might back my initial thinking and go Heeney + $$$.

Round 2 normally throws up some new debutants and their a quite a few $ 200-275k players that could be a avenue to some quick cash.

Thinking if Hunter/Meek do get dropped if they are only scoring 40's it might not be such a big deal after all.
He had 13 possessions and 3 goals. I know he scored well but his not going to kick goals every week. To much of a roller coaster ride for me.
Trading a premo out for a player who is not is my concern. You want to trade someone in with the same value if not better. Just seems like a downgrade to me.

No one could shut him down in 2018. If he's over his injuries, at 28, nothing to say he can't reach those heights again.

Probably in fact a good early smoky for a brownlow at $15

Dusty and Fyfe turn 30 this year, haven't had someone win one once they reach 30 since Buckley in '03. Slow starts for Neale and Cripps. Tim Kelly another decent smokie at $34, and a good votes per game rate (0.77).

Definitely going Danger to Martin (chose Zorko in initial team first) and thinking of Neale to Titch.

Will give me 200k+ to work with... maybe try and bring in Mills next week.

THoughts?

Think I need the cash grab more importantly at this stage in case I need a quick ruck fix in Round 3.

Also have another 4-5 players I am quite keen on (aside from rookie corrections) in Round 3 depending on their Round 2 scores.

If Cripps underperforms tomorrow night he can be moved to another premium easily enough.

Also thinking if Campbell scores a 50 again he might not make as much $$$ as initially thought so have options for him to be upgraded ASAP.

I have discussed Heeney well and truly over the preseason , so know his SC game and history over the seasons.

I think the best option the week is mills. Gun player still bank 70k. I’ve got the same thoughts on Campbell as well but I would trade him round 4 so he made at least 20k. A lot of good rookies my debut this week in Chapman and Ely smith so you can keep Campbell to round 4

I wouldn't be so eager to trade Neale.
Totally get that. He was my set and forget.

But Titch is also a premium elite... and will gain me 110k which may work towards getting a premium in the backline like Mills.

Neale will definitely drop in price... and had a very limited preseason. But i guess so did Titch. Didn't look like it against bombers though.

Berry was great and will need to be awful to go out over the next two weeks with the runs on the board.

He did fade pretty significantly though and I'm not sure whether the 5 first quarter tackles can really be argued as more likely to occur regularly than the 2nd half fade outs!

Role is great though and in a weak rookie group he looks among the best. He loves to tackle, aka effort, and he's getting the positional opportunity to do it. That's about as good a rookie scenario as you can ask for.
Definitely considering the Campbell to Berry trade to give me some more cash. Then i might give Neale another go...

Mills (Ridley) are certainly under consideration.

Good timing with the Crows playing the Swans , get to see them on FTA so can have a good look at some of their players.

Currently running 4 premo defence + Fantasia.

Actually think Clark , Cumming , Day , Young x 2 could even be viable moving forward so keen to have a look at their Round 2 scores.

Geez those 5 trades for Round 2 again would be handy.

Danger to Dusty at this stage is my only trade. Toyed with the idea of T. Mitchell via DPP but that leaves my forward line far too exposed with Dunkley as the only premium.

I have Campbell in the forward line and am thinking of trading him up to Ziebel after watching him perform way better in round 1 than I though he would. Would this be a bit of an unnecessary trade? I feel with the high ownership of Ziebel and Dusty I could continue to fall behind the eight ball by not having them both.

I'd personally be fine with Campbell being a bit more of a slower burn even at a higher $189k starting price. Kid will definitely come good you could see it in that first quarter. You don't want all your cows to be mooing all at once anyway and you have a lot of them to sift through Herbie.
