Going back and forth all week with trades as this could really break the season.

Option 1 -
Dunkley and Gulden > Zorko and Freeshaw. Leaves me 10k odd but rookie off the field and both potential keepers (Freeshaw like M7/M8)

Option 2 -
Dunkley and Gulden > Robinson and Guthrie. LEaves me with 180k odd to help upgrades next week and rolling the dice robinson can keep going 75-100 range and make 150k

Am i crazy to think about Tom McDonald, as i'm looking for value? $431k with a 3rd avg 111. 1.6% ownership. BE = 9....Demons will win many games but his SC history is horrible reading though

For those who do not have Grundy. Is it the last chance to bring him in this week ?
I have other concerns with my defence and forward lines along with Flynn.
However, I am tempted to get him in this week and cop a donut elsewhere otherwise I feel I may never get him. BE96 i think and has GC.

With my team floundering in quicksand and both my F1 and M3 (potential M1) out it's not time for value or speculation.

Neale and Dunkley to Macrae and Zorko unless I find some elusive time for research.

Rookies have to wait another week.

As an aside having seen Brisbane first hand last week am surprised at not seeing Daniel Rich even being spoken about in this thread.

He is playing a very SC friendly role, takes almost all the kick ins and they very very obviously try to get the ball in his hands.

I for one will be looking at him in the not too distant future.
Quick research had me briefly consider Tex and Toby but sticking with Zorks.

So the above two trades are now done and done.

Good luck all.

When he has played the high half forward role he tends to score well. When Hogan left and they played him as the key tall and deeper he struggled to cope with the defensive attention. Jackson has stepped up in the deeper role this year freeing him up. I don't think Brown will effect his role - Weideman may, but if Melbourne are smart they won't too much. If anything he may even push up to the wing at times.

Caveat - I don't have him, and too busy fighting fires to think about it!

Locked Dunkley to Oliver, not going to over-think that one.

Still thinking a downgrade somewhere to cash up for an upgrade next week, but not sure where. maybe NcNeil, Rowe. Gulden maybe but I'd like to hold him as he has shown good scoring potential. Not sure who to bring in though.

Again, I'll be away all weekend so need to lock it in now teams unseen.

Seeking confirmation on my preferred trades. (still seeking dad's approval and he's been dead 30+ years)
1. Gulden/Dunkley > Zorko/Sidebottom - not convinced Sidebottom role and fitness are clear. Zorko probably a "must" fwd option this week or next week but normally not in top 6 Fwds.
2. Gulden/Dunkley >Brayshaw/Farrar - 369.8K ITB, lose a F/M link though still have D Robertson. Get Cash Generation happening with Farrar. Able to wait to next week for Lloyd, Mitchell etc. Brayshaw basically bottomed out and preseason I saw him as a potential improver to superprem status this year. haven't seen anything to convince me this is still not possible and regret starting Cripps over Brayshaw.
3. Clark/Dunkley > Brayshaw/Farrar - same as above but less cash and lose my D/M link plus I cannot shake the belief that Clark has more to show us if given the opportunity. No urgency to trade Clark and I prefer him over Gulden to keep.

Next week probably Chapman to Frederick and Flynn to Steele/Zorko/Mitchell
Week 2 - Rowe>Dusty/Zorko and Kosi/Clark to Mid rookie preferably DPP or maybe LLoyd

Yes, and Brown is only $260k. So I am rolling the dice and gambling on Brown playing until the bye or fingers crossed, until Danger returns.
Demons ranked number 1 for I50s so plenty of opportunity there. Only issue I see is JS. Weideman also to come in at some stage and TBH, I'm a little surprised Brown is getting the nod ahead of him. Not sure how they compared last week but the week before Weideman kicked 7 v Box Hill and was clearly the better forward.

Brown can be a yoyo and with some big games and some very quiet. To me, he'll always be one stinker away from being dropped at Melbourne.

EDIT: Brown 4 v Weid 3 last week v the Tiges.

I think when Weideman comes in, McDonald will swing back to CHB

Like others, I'm a little undecided on trades this week.

Dunkley the only real issue coupled with too many non-playing benchies and one or two poor scores on the ground.

Common sense says replace Dunkley like for like but the problem many are grappling with is there are no obvious forward premos screaming "pick me, pick me". Most are tossing up between Zorko and Sidey and you'd have to think one or both of them are possible top 6 FWDs come seasons end but there are also a lot of question marks.

The other option is to trade to a mid (eg Walsh) but for me it then leaves my forward line exposed with no genuine premos (putting aside Ziebell and Imp who have stepped up but could fall away at some point).

I'm starting to lean towards taking two cheapies for Dunkley and Berry/Dow. I like Farrar as an option (over Atu). He appears to have a decent role and is 25. My only query is who he came in for and whether he's at risk making way for that player. He and Corbett came in for Ballard and Lemmens (both injured at the time). Ballard and Lemmens then came back in for Harbrow and McPherson the following week. It feels like a bit of a restructure so it's difficult to say which playing he's keeping out.

I'm also strongly considering getting Jordon who is the one rookie I've missed but is still value at $241k and a BE of -16. He's played every game and other than the one blip, has been solid. He's in the same bracket at Robertson but I prefer Jordon's JS. Robertson probably has the slightly better upside for scoring.

My other consideration (as much as it pains me) is bring Daniher back in. As commented during the week, with McStay now back Joe is being used much more as a ruck and has clearly added to his scoring over the past two weeks in that role. Season average of 71 but the last two rounds he's averaged 100. Current BE of -4 he is a genuine value option as a stepping stone or possibly a long term semi-keeper

Taking that approach gives me a decent war chest for the following weeks and deals with the the poorly performing on-field rookies.

It's a tough call with McDonald. Lever, May and Tomlinson are looking like an ominous trio down back now. Can't see all four of them there. Tomlinson is obviously the one that they might have to move back up the ground but he has been bloody good and is so much better than when he was playing on a wing.

Nice problem to have but to me, it makes it difficult to play both Weideman and Brown.

Personally I’m in a similar boat (I don’t have Grundy but have Gawn) and I would say let Flynn’s availability help you

If he’s not playing go with Option 1. But perhaps worth considering DPP Laird & getting Fredrick a week early? I, like you don’t really like any of the <123k rookies (aside from Fred). Also worth noting that if you have a shot to pick up Gawn / a 730k player, do it. He looks dominant and Melb only look like they’re going to get better

2. Option 2 is just as viable but the no Gawn situation might be problematic - imho having Gawn > Petracca & Walsh/Duncan/Guthrie so would personally take Option 1
Thanks to all for the advice and Kenny I have gone with option 1 !

I agree he is a potential simple upgrade to Danger in 2nd half of the season. Tempted to downgrade Joey to Ben after I see how he performs in the Melb fwd line. If he is playing deep then it will be a non starter for me.

Before last years down year, Brown had three consecutive years above 60 goals. He’s only 28 - way more runs on the board than Weideman.

The opportunity to grab a Gawn type doesn't come along often, not sure I'd be flirting with grabbing him later tbh.
That’s how I’m feeling but my forwards are such a mess. Guess it’s similar for most up forward, while I’m losing heaps of ground and 50/50 games without Gawn.

Think I like option 1 for you there, prioritising getting premiums in as soon as you can.
