Looks a pretty nice side.
Only thing I’d say is switch Curnow with literally anyone, Rowell, Cripps, anyone haha.
Ed Curnow averaged 111 last year in wins against non-feline teams, I'm expecting Carlton to win a few more this year against non-feline teams.

They also only play one feline team in the first 16 rounds.

It reckon it’s fantastic that we now have these tantalising rookie ruck options to mix things up for those who are willing to take on the JS unknowns. Could be some huge short term gains if it comes off.

Think I’ll be playing a straight bat in SC with Gawndy as I’m already going with a bunch of midpricers elsewhere and may have to make early season corrections if some badly flop. However I will likely roll the dice on the rookie ruck R2 set-up in both AF and RDT.

But less cookie cutter sides are generally a good thing for the most part. Yes it might keep us up at night tweaking our sides, either on the app/site or just within our own heads, but there are certainly are a lot worse things in life to worry about. o_O:LOL:

How I am currently set up, with $90k in the bank:

DEF: Laird, Stewart, Howe, Clarke, Kosi, Highmore, Sharp, Murray
MID: Oliver, Bont, Merrett, Fyfe , Cripps, Tarranto, Campbell, Powell, Brockman, Downie, Scott
RUC: Gawn, Hunter, Meek
FWD: Dangerfield, Dunkley, De Goey, Ziebell, Daniher, Jones, Rowe, Waterman

Obviously I'll be moving rookies around as/when they're named, but I'm feeling more confident we'll get enough around the lines.

Gawn over Grundy for me atm. Gawn's early match ups are great and I think the pies will be going a Grundy, Cox, Cameron set up and I'm not sure how that will affect Brodie. I'm not brave enough to go without both and I think Gawn is the safer of the two. Good luck to those running the rookie ruck set up - I envy your bravery!

Winner winner chicken dinner if you get those 4 rookie defender options.

Is that Hunter Clark or Jordan Clark at D4.

I suspect the latter as you have close to 13 premiums (including JDG & TT)

Yep fingers crossed on the rookies - but I think we'll get enough in the backline. Jones, Briggs, Butts and maybe one or two others also around the mark there.

You are correct in the Jordan Clark guess - I actually think he could end up sitting as most peoples D6 for a large chunk of the season.

I'm hoping JDG, TT and maybe even Ziebell can do enough to be around for the entirety of the season.

I think people are worried about the starting price for both Butts & Cox , if they score 45-60 they are probably similar scoring to some of the forward & mid options (albeit all cheaper).

Kosi looks likely , Murray probably plays until Talia returns.

Highmore is close , Sharp would be nice.

Briggs will be close too.

Port will let us know early about Jones.

Buckley , Hamill & L Young are probably other options at a more elevated price.

Be interesting if Clark can cement his place in Geelong's best 22 , Duncan already ruled out.

I briefly looked at him as a D3 (admittedly moved Laird to the mids)

Surely this is the year JDG stays on the park.

Extremely well balanced team if the rookies fall the right way.

Only one rookie confirmed for Round 1 so far.

Be happy with 8 cheap ones to be named to have a playing bench.

Apart from the rookie ruckman and Campbell not real sure which rookie is a must have to play onfield at this stage.

Certainly have to use the time to look at different options , although probably just as easier just to come here next Monday and go from their.

Job security of rookies would be the biggest concern although we're guessing a lot this year anyway. Briggs, Wehr, Smith, Treacy and Waterman look questionable round 1 and Brockman probably makes way for Wingard in the early rounds. If they all turn up you're laughing. I like the idea of having a donut to play and I've toyed with Jones at Port or Waterman. I would take Wehr out, push Laird back and put Powell in the mids who seems favoured at North. Atkins to Daniher would give you the cash. Atkins supercoach score in that preseason game looks odd next to his dreamteam score. I couldn't understand the Phillips talk preseason but he looks like having a good role at Hawthorn and I'm warming to the idea. CBA's and tackles is a good sign.

SC dedication at its best applying for annual leave 😀

Rookie at D5 & D6 certainly makes it well balanced (currently pencilled in Butts & Cox their myself)

Extra cash to maybe get F Macrae upgraded.

Very nice side
Funny enough work gave me an extra RDO so I now have Wed, Thur and Friday off which must be a good sign right!

Thanks mate.
Atkins is my biggest punt. I was shocked at the role he was given last Saturday night and he played it to perfection, running off half back and into the midfield. Finished up with 28 touches, 14 contested. Think I would prefer his consistent 85's to start with, rather than Joey's 40's then 100's.
Have searched through the Foward Discussion thread and no mention of Tom Atkins. The only thing I don't like about Atkin's selection is that awkward starting price of 293k. Would be handy if someone could talk me out of the Atkin's selection.
