Did anybody follow Harry Edwards’ game?

Write up on the AFL website said he played as a key defender and as a back up ruck.

Any chance for round 1?
NN & Williams didn’t play so he was Vardy’s backup (& Oscar Allen)

He is the backup if Barrass or Gov miss (Schofield now retired) - with Shep/ Hurn/ Witherden/ Cole/ Rotham/ Duggan/ Nelson the medium/ small defenders.

Shep/ Hurn/ Rotham can play as a 3rd tall defender if required. So essentially, I can only see him getting games if Gov or Barrass miss.

All the talk on Flynn is he'll be the #1 ruck, so that's a hard yes if he is, especially if they go with Ward as the backup.

Only saw a couple of minutes of that one, so hoping for a replay to confirm it. Even bad ruckmen score 70 generally and Flynn has an incredible midfield to help boost his hitout stats.

If there is no ghost of Mummy lurking I think Flynn would almost force us to not pick one of Gawn or Grundy.

From what I read on the Dockers, Meek might be the one to watch even more and Treacy could actually end up being used in the forwards.
Flynn and Meek R2+3:cool:

@wogitalia

When do you think you will be reviewing the swans v giants game?

So many relevant players in that game - I have 5 swans in strong consideration for my team lol.
Assuming one of the sides makes it available, as soon as that happens :)

I imagine I have the same 5 and then a couple more in my sights.

Just as interested for GWS though, got a solid half dozen in their ranks also.

I'm hoping Nick Murray saves the day...McAsey lookes seriously out if his depth today and down on confidence. Fingers crossed he gets a list spot and they chuck him straight in round 1
What happens when Doedee & Talia return though ?

I see some irony in our rookie dilemma down back. So few options to start with but then so many targets to choose from when upgrading- probably as many as 6 or 7. On the other hand while we seem to have plenty of cheap starters to choose from in the forward line when looking for an upgrade target later on there seems to be limited options that seem suitable. In my team set up I would currently only consider Dusty, Sidebottom or Dunkley as possibles. Hopefully we get a couple of forward bolters that we can jump on to provide some choice.

Dangerfield and Marshall are very obvious names you've left out. That's a solid 5 targets. Think there will be about 10 guys in that 90-100 range that will all do the job as the F6 if you get them at the right price.

My biggest worry is actually downgrade targets, it's not like there were a ton of rookie options that aren't being selected but will see games, there's a general feeling that most of them are playing from the start and the rest aren't really ready.

I already have Dangerfield and Heeney which is why they aren't mentioned and I don't see Marshall coming back until well into the second half of the season. There are a string of guys that are hit and miss like Hawkins, Dixon Gray and Walters. Zorko may be an option I missed before. I have four slots to fill.

Your point about the downgrade targets is valid but that happens most years which is why I think sometimes it is better to take a rookie when they come up on the bubble than fix a problem or do an upgrade.
