I'm going to stick my neck out, but put a pretty big rider on my suggestion.

Last time we looked at Macrae, his table looked like this, after we made all the adjustments.

When we add in his most recent scores, it looks like this:

Macrae is now overpriced by 39/game, and faces a B/E 212.

I'm putting it out there, he's the biggest "sell" we've seen in at least 3 seasons.
If you have him, there is a golden opportunity (rider to follow) to move him on, and cash in on his huge over value.
With his massive B/E you have a safety net, where if it looks a regrettable move, you should be able to get him back in, at a much reduced price, from what you sold him.

Rider
The timing is either perfect, or terrible. If there is a GC or Port player you are keen on, then it is perfect, if there isn't it's terrible(ish). If there isn't, the next best option is waiting until Round 13, and going to a Carl, Haw, WC or WBull player. Outside of those 6 teams it might become problematic, depending on your bye structure.
There are no Port or GC players I am keen on, but if I owned Macrae, I'd probably side trade him to the Bont, in Round 13. This pockets around $165,000. The Bont has 4 x 120+'s in his last 6 games, a DNP and a 47. He's only in 11% teams (Macrae's only in 18%). Most of the people up the top are Macrae owners, doing something to separate yourself from them is a good move, imo.

I wonder if anyone had the guts to do it?!

I'm claiming that as a victory for the thread! :)

It’s one of the all time great calls I think Rowsus. It’s literally worth $50k if anyone up the pointy end made that move.

my mate traded macrae in at around round 4-5. He panic traded him out last week to win a cash league. Got him at close to his cheapest, sold him at 703k. What a win

I don’t own Macrae, but I had the option to either trade him or Bont in this week. I happily chose Bont, so I’ll claim that as the next best thing :)

I hope someone from the site sold him. I didn't own so couldn't. Agreed, biggest shark move, and now he's injured, so it's gunna happen anyway.... but still some marginal points and $ gained for any who did. Great thread.

Potentially 80 points and 160k (240k turnaround if you consider the 75k Macrae is set to lose) if traded to Bont... That's insane, especially around byes!
Definite shark move, hopefully a few pulled the trigger.

I serious considered this move. But just had too many gaps and injury concerns on week one that Macrae being fit and able meant I would need him for the next two byes and wanted to stay open to having to move Laird or Martin etc ... We know how that worked out. Am thinking of moving him on this week... Such a chump move. I wonder who his best replacement might be. Oliver? Treloar? I could not stomach wines in my team again. Treloar also makes me feel I'll. I guess that answers my question. Oliver it might be and while I haven't checked prices, hope it leaves me enough to upgrade ronke to jjk ... If jjk isn't injured after the Swans

Oliver then J.Kelly then... welll Wines has looked good for two weeks and is playing for a contract and we all know what that can do right Dusty? Ed curnow and JPK are two other sub 10% ownership players that are high averaging and in form respectively. I've got Zerritt stuck in my mids. Pendles is cheap. Treloar probably passed him now though at the pies.

Bumping this thread again.
First posted it 7 years ago, and I'm hoping to have the time to post some updated player tables as the season wears on.
Who knows? We might even get a huge sell push on a player like we did with Macrae at post #85.

One of the keys to this sort of thing working is to have honest, reasonable expectations for a player, before the season starts.
Part of that is setting a reasonable expected game count. Looking at 2024 and the players that averaged 100+, only 50% of them played every game. Another 25% missed 1 or 2 games, and the other 25% missed 3 or more games. It's no good just throwing most of the players in at 23/xxx. You usually need a good reason or history to say they will play all 23 games.
One of the good things about these tables, is that everyone starts with their own expectations. This can lead to one person having a player as "buy", and another person to have the same player as a potential "sell"!.

I'd be really happy for people to add in some (as many as you'd like to post!) expectations. When I make some tables i'll use the average of the expectations posted.
