Ok guys

I have 170k in the bank
24 trades, 3 boosts
.....
And Oliver

As i sit just outside the top 3k i dont see myself scraping back to towards the top, so im focusing more on H2H

Do i?
1) not trade and cop a loss( i will field 21 players)
2) trade oliver to Merrett
2.5) trade oliver to Butters
3)cash in and grab someone like Humphrey or something for a few rounds?

Need to make a decision before 2pm tomoz, (left it late as i thought i was safe until i saw Lloyds score)
You have 10 more trades plus 3 more boosts than me without mentioning the $120k more in the bank. As for the 17k higher rank, now you are just rubbing salt into the wound!!

I say do whatever the hell you feel like doing!

You know trades and boosts don’t carry over to next year?
At just over the 3k mark I’d keep swinging given the amount of boosts and trades up your sleeve!
Definitely not 1
You can afford to trade Oliver to Merrett and still bring him back if you want down the track.
Butters has probably gone over budget for most, given the lack of fund generation from the rookies of late.

24 trades left would be as much or more than anybody. Why are you saving them?
Im prepared for the 2nd half of the season carnage.
Idk, without having spoken to anyone i felt my team was quite far behind with too many trades used.

Yeah good point, its just another reason im worried about trading oliver is the fact because of cash gen issues i might not get him back
But yeah judging from the other responses it looks like i seem to be in a good place?

Buckley, Oliver and consider Anderson to Merrett, Sicily and Rookie like Humphrey?
Dont know the prices and bye structure off hand but you are in the hunt so should still go for it and see where you land post byes?

I don't see why you would need to trade Oliver ...

- Ando to Merrett and maybe some cash cows like Weddie / Humphrey would be my avenue ....

Not sure on Humphrey though with two games in Darwin against WBU and ADE ...

Edit: just saw Sicily mentioned too ...

It's not that farfetched to find 180K for Day/Sheezel to Oliver.

Everyone has Seamus Mitchell that will be ripe to be culled before his bye.

There are also plenty of teams that have 2 of the Atkins (43% owned in top 1%), Humphrey (45% owned in top 1%) & Weddle (56% owned in top 1%) trio.

People also have Ashcroft or Worpel that can be cashed in soon, Simpson has made it to 250K etc.
Every team i look at has 3-4 rookies on field that are a priority to trade first. Most of these rookies happen to be the guys you listed above so them needing to go up to a premium means you need to find 150 - 250k cash on your bench just to get them to 550k+ guys. As good as they all scored last week i can't see any topping out much beyond 350k. When you're using 150-180k to upgrade the Day/Sheezel's of the world you're almost better off using one more trade to generate extra cash and going a low priced rookie to a 450k guy so you can use them as permanent cover or as a loop with Day/Sheezel. Like what people did last year with Heeney at F7.

Fyfe could possibly be this permanent cover/loop option for only ~250K though?

Sheezel would be nice to keep in an ideal world, but most teams will almost be forced into a slingshot trade anyway given how bad the last bye is. Slingshotting to Oliver just seems like the perfect move.

I'm also torn around the Humphrey trade in. Contemplating Zerrett and Humphrey versus Steele and Wardlaw with $190k next week to jump to a $625k player. Humphrey for the byes helps so much but could backfire with Darwin games.

I would say option 2. Merrett is a good trade in independent of Oliver, and plays WC. If he goes as big as last week, the trade could pay for itself today, with upside over the coming rounds (and loose change).

Oliver to Merrett and Simpson to Humphrey

Not feeling 100% on these trades but my bench cover is basically non existent so have to pull the trigger. Going early on rookies has hurt me this year so Wardlaw will wait a week

These could be quite good trades, especially if Simpson is the sub. I like Merrett as an in, and am trading Oliver myself.

With that said, it looks like you may be able to afford your ins while clearing out some dead wood … is that possible?

More broadly, I think some coaches are at risk of doing a number of sideways trades through the byes primarily because they haven’t cleared out enough dead wood. I think this is a good round to do it.

The dead wood has all 4 byes 🙂

Good luck!

Can I check what you’re thinking regarding the risk of Humphrey playing in Darwin please?

Yep. Been struggling with it all week. On paper I hate it and can see it being a complete waste but I really can't afford to miss out if it works out so I'll likely pull the trigger.
