..........Rowell says ritual gets his head in the game...... that tasting turf makes him feel 'one with the ground'.........'He does this at every single game, at every single ground across Australia,..........'I just started doing it at the start of this year at the practice matches and leading into the normal games,' Rowell told the Channel 7 crew.
'I'm just kind of feeling my surroundings. I'll close my eyes a bit. I'll listen, taste some grass, taste. Feel it. It's just kind of a ritual I've been doing just to get my head in the zone a bit.'..........
.........Seven's Hamish McLachlan then asked Rowell if he was worried about pesticides on the footy turf.
'I didn't think about that stuff until somebody asked me,' admitted Rowell.
'I haven't dropped off the perch yet.'
........Rowell isn't the first professional athlete to eat the grass where he plays.
Grand slam king Novak Djokovic has plucked a few pieces of grass out of Centre Court at Wimbledon to eat every year since he won the tournament in 2011.
'It's a little tradition,' he told the BBC in 2018.........
