Thoughts on Gawn > Briggs? Currently have Marshall, Gawn and Madden R1-3.

Not having English is killing me, thinking if I run with Briggs through the byes I can bank the 250k and get English in once he maxes out in price. Don't usually like risky moves but very tempting.

Another reason to avoid Brayshaw is that Darcy being out might mean less supply to the Freo mids. They’re going to have to win a lot more of their own ball rather than being gifted it by a class ruck.
Brayshaw did ok with no ruck against the best tandem in the league on the weekend? I think its fine to bet against Brayshaw if you missed the dip but I don’t think having no ruck should be a heavily considered point in doing so.

Is not having English really killing you?

Perhaps early on that was the case when he went 130+ six matches in a row. Since then he hasn't hit 130 and has averaged 'just' 105.

Essentially going Gawn to English feels very sideways to me.

I'm very likely to trade Rankins to mullin early. It would allow me to do a fyfe downgrade and another upgrade next week. Mullin seems more useful to my side than briggs or wardlaw.

Who is a better pick: Briggs or Wardlaw.

Both will cost me as will probably trade Roberts and swing Madden forward. More juicy cows JVR, Mitchell, Cincotta and Atkins (hopefully) have a bit more cash to make.

Have English and Marshall so Briggs will only be on field this week, but my priority is cash generation.
Wouldn't Briggs be on ground round 15 as well?

I'll be seriously considering a 580k Brayshaw off his bye next week, he's just looked unreal on the eye test since he declared himself fully fit.

Day to Ridley anyone?

(Yes, I'm serious)
Re EFC defenders - Redman is sure to have a big finish to the season I reckon. 170 odd last time against NM for a start.
(Not that I think that we are playing well enough to do a number on North.)

Getting him 3 rounds ago at $440K would have been nice.

This week for me is purely going to be downgrades - don't see the point of completing an upgrade when they are going to have a bye shortly.

At this stage it is McKenna > Ford
Will look to see if there is anything more viable for JvR, but may wait til next week and upgrade him with extra $$
Well, I have decided to backflip as always, on the above comment...

Still doing McKenna > Ford, but also doing Baker > Redman

This leaves me with
Rd 12 bye - 21 assuming Simpson & Berry (GC) play - 15 premiums, excluding Humphrey
Rd 13 bye - 21 with 18 premiums
Rd 14 bye - 18 with 14 premiums - Simpson & Berry - one will be gone along with JvR & or maybe Mitchell
Rd 15 bye - 16 with 11 premiums - JHF and Sheezel might be sideway traded by then

So happy with that for this week, pending Team lineups

I’m at a bit of a loss what to do with the 4-8 week prognosis for Darcy. Use his money to upgrade another premium next week and hold Ashcroft for short term or hold Darcy and have Briggs cover him for as long as I can.

Could get away with it over the bye period, and I’m not particularly keen to throw away Darcy who has been so good this season barring 1-2 games.
I think Darcy goes. Yeah you can cover for the next two weeks, but if it costs you a donut in r15 when Briggs is also resting it’s gunna hurt. Briggs won’t last 8 weeks either IMO, so you run the risk of needing a RF dpp eg Cameron as well to cover for Briggs before Darcy is back. Just too much much mucking around.

Edit: seen the shorter length commentary around his injury. If you’re set well for byes I’d consider holding. I’m holding Jelly.

The thought of bringing in Ridley with my 12 remaining trades makes me ill
He's a top 15 defender on average if you take out the concussion game (ave 96), and significantly better than his average when not forced to play lockdown due to other injuries.

Essendon's KPD stocks seem to be looking up from a fitness perspective, so some chance his second half of the year goes at >100ppg.

Yours for 428k on the back of the last 2 >120. Expected to be >470k after next week. Whichever way you look at it he has to come under serious consideration.

(Disclaimer: traded Stewart to him after Rd1 and have held through all the garbage scores I _need_ him to be good, so might want it too much)

Solid points made, I am tempted by him also.

Here are Essendon's kickout stats for the year so far :-

Curious as to why McGrath's round 8 numbers were so high - that was the game when Ridley was concussed early on with the Rioli incident off the ball. So it looks like Redman & Ridley are the clear main guys, Hind coming into the team recently not ideal - would be nice if got dropped :p

Kick in stats from last year :-

Again the main issue is Hind - otherwise it is Ridley/Redman.

Ridley SC yearly averages since 2020 :-

Scores so far this year:-

He certainly has to be on the radar for mine if looking for a D6 - most of us are struggling for cash gen, trying to get the rookies off the field.

If he doesn't have to play lockdown, he clearly scores well. If Hind gets dropped then it makes him even more tempting.
