Don't let excitement force you into a bad error.
Waiting for Lloyd to get to the bubble is prudent, he can't be expected to go 80 each week, let alone 100+.
Yeah won't be doing it next week, will wait for him to be on the bubble.
Think this will mean though hold on Rohan for this week, then go him to a rookie MID. Then JKH or Impey to Lloyd the following week.

Would it be worth trading in one of Currie/Deriyx this week to be a slow burner on the pine??

I can't see the value in that. Not enough return, dollar-wise or point-wise, if required.

Geez Goodies, I hope you did not do the Rohan to Laidler trade. Only just reading this now how much you were all over the same one I looked deep into. I did that trade earlier in week and left it there for a few days to kind of sleep on it.
Although getting Laidler on bubble is better than Rohan doing not much at all, the problem ends up being locking in Lewie Taylor forward and cutting off the handy FWD/MID link that could prove important in coming weeks with lots of other cheap rookies coming up on radar. I reversed all trades and like you I also toyed with maybe grabbing small rise in Currie or Derrickx but the issue is weeks later they may not even play so you stuck with doing a trade now that makes some cash but well short of cash generation guys like Lloyd, Robertson and others could possibly generate. Those links that both of us have/had with DEF/MID and FWD/MID could prove extra handy for some of those trades.
Also just on Laidler himself because Swans playing on Sunday it is scary to trade and possible he not even play or he just plays this game then Nick Smith, Bird, McVeigh, Rhyce Shaw, Rampe etc. keep him out of Swans backline or he just ends up with sub and vest roles. The cons on the trade ended up outweighing any short to medium term possible benefits so hopefully you kept the powder dry and not done that trade. I'm going to feel a lot better in longer term knowing I keeping Rohan spot parked for a cash generation role for someone like Fasolo that was coming up soon or Matt Crouch. Now Lloyd has bobbed up too but timing of that is a week later so another player will have to make way for him.

Rowsus what is your current plan to get Ablett in? I'm starting to get concerned about it. I went in with Cotchin instead of Ablett (have pendles but it was always Cotchin or Ablett). I thought cotchin could go 120, 115 at worse and was hoping Ablett would start the season slowly. This has backfired greatly so far and after Hawthorn he has Melbourne, GWS, North and then the bye. Scary to think how much he will be and how many points we will miss out on.

Hi Rowsus, I want to downgrade M Thomas to M Crouch and upgrade D Thomas to J Watson. I have 2.5K cash in the kitty. Do you think this trade will be possible after round 4? How much would the 2 Thomas' and Jobe need to score roughly, taking into account their B/E's? Also, do you think these would be good trades? I have Pendles, Ablett and Beams, so was wanting to offload M Thomas before the R8 bye anyway.

Thanks Rowsus, i am not too convinced by Mcintosh myself and i will be taking the risk and going with big Mummy! His price will rise over 600K this week anyway, so if he does get injured, the options will be aplenty. I will be pretty happy with my team after this trade, and maybe a couple more in the next 2-3 weeks :) Hopefully work out well!

Yeah mate, I would have waited until today to pull the trigger anyway but even before last nights game I had decided I won't go through with that trade. Thankfully the performance of Lloyd makes things a bit better as we should be able to count on him to get a few more games, probably not of the same scoring, but hey take anything from a a FWD rookie.

Hi Zoku Pops,
I chose a very risky path, and I'm certainly being punished for it.
I freely admit there are many better Coaches than me, that just have a knack for making good decisions in SC. Just like my footy tipping, I tend to jump the wrong way on most of the close calls.
I decided the only way for me to beat them, was to separate my team from their teams. I probably went one or two steps too far on that separation. Definitely I broke my first rule of team selection: First pick your 2 players you want to loophole as Captain!
My initial plan was based on the fact, that due to do the diminishing MN most players drop around 10% in price in the first 3 or 4 games. That has obviously backfired big time this year, with 3 of the 4 big guns actually raising their prices! There will be corrections to their scoring to come. I can't see us having 3 players in the 130+ area for the season. Unfortunately, due to their starts, I will struggle to get more than 1 or 2 of Ablett, Pendles and Selwood in before it is too late. Chances are one of them will start "fail" (ie score at about 105) after I get them.
It was a risky tactic, and done in exactly the wrong year. Never before have most of the topped priced players started a season in such fashion. I certainly won't "sacrificing" players to bring them in. I'll just build my team the best I can from here.

M Thomas should be about $365,900 after Fridays game, so going to M Crouch should net you $248,600.
D Thomas costs $250,500 more than Watson coming into this round, so before their price changes this week you are right on the line.
D Thomas has a B/E of 39
Watson has B/E of 149
You should be safe. Basically for you not to be able to do it, Watson has to outscore D Thomas by 111 or more.
Good luck :)

Rowsus - thoughts on Minson at 570k? Still too high? Copped some ruck carnage this week and was going to get Mummy in but waited until the subs update (thankfully) so avoided his donut. Don't have any ruck cover on the bench either.

Borderline too high, but at least he doesn't miss as many games as Mumford, Sandi etc.

Hi Rowsus,

I have Dunn in my backline. I'm not sure now he's playing up forward if I should persist or trade (if so to who?). He seems to score better in defence.
Would like to hear your opinion.

Thanks

Hi Juzzo,
firstly, just for your planning Dunn should be priced at about $438,300 after yesterdays game, with a B/E of 119. These are approximates, but should be close.
Dunn's always been a floater. Some games up forward, some down back, and some run with roles. It could be why his scoring has always been inconsistent. I was hoping Roos' over possession game in Defence would translate to SC points for Terlich, Dunn and others, but it hasn't worked out that way. That being said, we have to assume that Dunn is just Dunn, and he has been a 75-80 point player for a while now. Realistically we have to adjust our expectations back to that level, I think. As you know, we want more than that from our D6, so you either need to upgrade him, or hope that Ashby plays well today, and downgrade him.

It's a bugger, my PODS Dunn, Dahlhaus and Fyfe have given me grief so far for one reason or another.
