Won't happen. Not sure it is worth it anyway (unless on traded for Clarry for example, maybe then).

That deal is not even close to tempting the Eagles to trade Pick 1.... There is some absolute crap flying around at the moment in regards to teams trying to get Pick 1. Going to be a very long couple of months until the draft.

I still see North as the only possible trade partner if we decided to trade pick 1.

If we where to trade with Hawthorn or even Melbourne, assuming North get Pick 3 for McKay Compo.... Then we'd miss out on Reid at pick 1, and North would likely take McKercher & Curtin so we miss them as well. That would leave us selecting from Watson, Duursma, Caddy & Sanders of which several of them are massive flight risks. We would need Pick 2 to be included as an absolute minimum of any deal.

Agreed. I found it kind of funny they thought it was good enough, it's not worth it for either side in my opinion.

Absolutely agree with this one.

If the Eagles somehow want to trade their way out of pick 1 (Reid as a flight risk maybe?), it will be for pick 2 to use on Curtin + extra draft currency.

I'd personally love them to... :ROFLMAO:
Reid + Sheezel + Wardlaw + Pick 3, that's building some serious talent.

Completely agree! The trading of the number 1 pick narrative is bonkers when the eagles have been pretty clear. The only world I could see something happening is if north was happy to slide to 3 for future draft capital, allowing the eagles to have 2 and hawthorn 1. But the sweetener for both North and West Coast would need to be amazing to just hand the Hawks kick 1.

The difference in reporting between the week West Coast were bottom and North were bottom was ridiculous!

What do you feel gets this done mate? I have been pretty vocal in my group chats about "throwing the eagles a bone" rather than standing our ground in hope you take Curtain at 1.
Pick 2 and our future compo 1st get it? Could also get 14 or 19 in the mix this season

Eagles may as well trade with the Hawks if they prefer Curtin to Reid. Future 1st from the Hawks is most likely going to be a top 5 pick, and I have heard the Roos prefer other players to Curtin at pick 2 (and even 3 if they get that as compensation for McKay).

I don't love the deal still, but it's not terrible.

It's an interesting one this, I've also been of the thinking that it will be difficult for the Hawks to get Pick 1, however after talking with one of my mates last night who is in the recruiting list/management space at a club, I'm maybe a touch more bullish now.

He said from what he's hearing the Hawks are well and truly in the race for Pick 1. And that relative to the 'public idea' of what it would take to see Pick 1 traded, that what his club is hearing and feeling is that it's not going to take a genuine godfather style offer to maybe get something over the line. I gathered that the feeling in club land is that Pick 3 (which becomes Pick 4 if there's a Jed Walter bid, Pick 5 with McKay compo) is again viewed as much more valuable, and appealing, to clubs than what the 'public consensus' might be at this stage. All very interesting.

But wouldn't north with 2 and the possibility of 3 still make more sense to WC than 5 if the offer is not requiring to be the 'godfather nature'?
