Do they still count as a 'top pick' if they were basically let go by their original club for next to nothing? It's not like we've sold the farm to bring in Stephens, Stephenson, Logue, Bonar, Corr and CCJ, which is a third of that list. Not our problem if other teams used their first round draft picks on players they didn't want :p

While I'd love it to be true, I don't think we'll jump up that quickly in 2024: most of those players are still young and need to build experience. Only 8 players on our list have played 100 games (the grand finalists this year had 15 and 19 respectively) and of all those players listed above, only Simpkin, Corr, McDonald and Logue are over 25.

This is a crucial draft for us. If we get it right, we'll have a really strong core of younger players that could be great in a few years. But I don't think you'll see that group win a whole lot of games when their average age is 22 or less.
I expect North will come good, but it might be a bit later than 2024. Going to take at least a year or two for Clarko to get the systems and positions set, not to mention the pre seasons needed.
Is Clarko the right guy? I think he had run his race at Hawthorn so North offered a change but does he need to reinvent himself? Or is he going to be the transition guy, the one that gets everything set up for someone else to then take over in a few years. Clearly not doubting his coaching in the past, but going forward is the question for mine.

I think you hit the nail on the head the further your comment went. Is he going to lead us to the last day in September in his next 4 years? Maybe but more than likely no, but its setting up the footy department and the on field the way premiership clubs are set up

Clarko consistently reset how footy was played (strategy, game approach, tactics) while he was at the Hawks. He has had a huge amount of influence via his assistant coaches who went all over the league. I think it was time to move on from the Hawks and expect he will do good things at North if given the chance. Amazing coach

Wouldn’t mind us forgetting about Chol now. Gunners back beside Lewis for another year, and then attack a proper key forward via FA or trade next season when there may be a bit more quality on offer.
Gunston is my favourite player, but is he going to give us the same amount of games that Chol might? Had a few injuries over the last few years.
