Clarko consistently reset how footy was played (strategy, game approach, tactics) while he was at the Hawks. He has had a huge amount of influence via his assistant coaches who went all over the league. I think it was time to move on from the Hawks and expect he will do good things at North if given the chance. Amazing coach
Clarko seems pretty close to the complete coach. Excellent manager ✅ Expert tactician ✅ Ambitious ✅ Highly experienced ✅ Undertakes ongoing research (see the time he spent with the GS Warriors) ✅

The only thing that I think Clarko may be missing is a bit of the recent mindfulness and group chemistry practices that Richmond, Collingwood, and the Giants have put in to practice. However, he probably is already aware of all that good stuff.

@HimothyTaranto, have you heard any Tigers trade updates? Do you think that we will do anything?
Nothing other than Kozitschke from the Hawks and other clubs being interested in some of our guys (North want Biggie, I expect Ralphsmith could end up somewhere else too).

Without our first round pick this year we're unlikely to do much. Just honestly need Lynch's foot to heal or we're screwed.

McLean delisted by the Dogs. Does it get another go at a different club? Seemed to have skills at one point 🤔
He looked a little cooked this year because his speed is gone. Two ACL's have been really cruel.

I think he might be one of those guys that kills it in the VFL, but is just a little underdone at the AFL level.

Not sure where to put this one but anyone else hearing the rumours about Clarry and Max? Gaining a bit of steam around the traps but not sure if there’s any substance to it.

Thank you for the update, @HimothyTaranto. I very much appreciate it. Maybe Lynch needs to go to Qatar with Gibcus? ;)

Pretty well summed up this. Such a shame, looked like he was going to be a serious player, but then a role change, followed by the ACLs, and you’d think he’s probably about done. Maybe someone throws him a lifeline as a rookie, or more likely a chance to train on, but hard to see a team (and project) that he suits with list spots so tight.

Question: Are free agency picks transferable?

I genuinely do not know the answer - not trying to stir.
If you're referring to the compensation picks that teams get for free agents, then I do believe they are transferrable/can be traded.
Resource from the AFL Players Association site albeit relating to 2019, mentions that compensation may be traded.

It's funny how SC becomes one's main memory of a player. Back in his first year in the bye weeks I spent a lot of time researching him as I was looking for a rookie downgrade. He had scored 19 in his first game before the byes so trying to determine if I would go against 'the sc rule of only pick rookies on the bubble' and take him 2nd game.

I went with him, he got 67 in his 2nd game, 79 in his third (so I got both scores being bye rounds) and then 86 in this 4th and what would be his last game of the year. After watching & riding his scores in those 2nd to 4th games I remember thinking yep this kid will be a very good player.

If Schulz reason for coming back to Victoria is the ?coem home factor", Fremantle should be able to try and make a deal with any Victorian club that suits their club, not just Collingwood? The club should get the best deal they can for the player while still helping the player get back home.

Schultz has to agree to the trade. Hawks are dealing with a similar issue with Brockman wanting to go to the Eagles, and Freo are also expressing interest.

Brockman for Schultz works. I know the Hawks showed interest in him a year or so back. Unfortunately neither player seems interested in the deal.

The West Coast Eagles have reached agreement with Hawthorn over a trade involving young forward Tyler Brockman.
The 20-year-old Brockman, recruited by the Hawks from Subiaco three years ago, asked to return to his home State and to play with the Eagles.
Today the Eagles agreed to hand over selections 44 and 63 in next month’s National Draft to facilitate the deal, despite having the option to take the uncontracted Brockman through to the pre-season draft where they have the first pick.
“We were keen on Tyler in his initial draft year so it is very pleasing to have this deal done that now brings him to the club," List Manager Rohan O’Brien said.
“Doing the deal at this stage means that Tyler can be here for the start of pre-season and he has certainty as he prepares to bring his young family home."
