I understand journalists and reporters can be invasive and a huge annoyance to people like Mick and that he's only trying to do what's best for his football club, but the way he acts in his press conferences is completely disrespectful and downright rude, no matter the circumstance.

I quite like Carlton as a club and have a few mates who follow them but I took huge satisfaction in rewinding the live TV on Saturday to repeatedly show Mick's face after they lost to Melbourne.

Imagine being this bloke's Wife.
What? Micks a bigger douche than carro, gary or hutchy?

Noob question: i'm going to be in the Melbourne area this weekend. Will I be able to walk up and get tickets to a game on the gate? Which do you recommend? In town Friday morning til Monday afternoon.

Definitely dude - the only game it's likely not to happen very easily for is Geelong vs. Hawthorn. The next biggest game would be Collingwood vs. North on Saturday night and I'd hazard a walk up ticket buy would be easy done.

as a visitor to Melb you should go to the G if you haven't before, why not Gazza against Melbourne Sunday arvo, you'll see the master in action and have plenty of room to move around.

Actually I would think the Essendon v St.Kilda game in city at Docklands would be harder to get to than Geelong v Hawks at G.
Geelong v Hawks you should be able to turn up on day and buy a ticket quite easily.
Probably a crowd of 60,000 or maybe 70,000 but even then general admission probably unlikely to sell out in ground that holds close to 100,000.

Docklands have arrangement that Essendon home games there should be fully ticketed. Meaning you can't just sit anywhere. You have to purchase a ticket for a specific seat rather than any general admission and the ground only holds about 50,000 so even a game of just 40,000 with 2 Melbourne based clubs you should get a ticket before the day rather than rock up expecting to get ticket easily and walk in.
Does not take much for a game to get close to full house if two in form local clubs play against each other with decent following.
I would not expect a crowd less than 35,000 for that game being as it is Saturday night.
Probably 40,000 so it probably not a lock out but would not take my chances. If you are in city probably can walk to ticket windows there at 6pm then buy tickets then. Go back to city and enjoy yourself for next hour and half and come back around 7-30 pm and walk in with tickets you already got and scan at gate. Then barrack for St.Kilda ;) to down the Dons.

Dogs play Carlton Sunday twilight 4-40 pm but these game times less well attended and it is a Dogs home game so can basically walk up 30 minutes before game and get tickets after probably 10 minute wait in some cue outside ticket windows.
With Carlton being out of form it won't be anywhere near close to full and probably just 30,000 crowd or so I'd expect.

Collngwood v North 1-40 pm Saturday at G probably the better game to watch as nuetral seeing as North in good form and Pies also won last game.
Probably 55 to 65,000 crowd if a nice warm sunny day and should not have much issue getting a ticket. Just don't turn up 15 minutes before game or might have to wait in line and miss the first bounce before you get in.

Go to them all!

Start with Coll North at the G on Saturday arvo, have dinner in the city on the way to Ess Saints at Etihad that night (Note you will have to buy a reserved seat but you can do that there. Seat may be with the crowds but you can always stand with the grog squad).
Sunday go the G for Melb GC and then afterwards make the tram ride to Etihad you should probably be able to get their for the last quarter and they usually open the gates at 3/4 time or shortly afterwards so you will get in for free.
Then finish it off with Hawks Cat on Monday if you can fit it in :)

Thanks all, looks like Sunday will actually be the most likely option. The boss has me watching penguins or something on Saturday!

What's really bad (ie really Awesome!) is I have actually done this (footy/pub crawl) a few times before. Mind you this was before the wife and kids....

Victor Harbour has penguins mate.
Granite Island if I remember correctly.
About 2 hours south of big country town Adelaide.
Maybe less time. Bit like Phillip Island journey from Melbourne.
