Hey rowsus.
I currently have Hampson in my team and I know I can't hold onto him much longer for obvious reasons. Who should I look at for the replacement, players with round 8 byes do not need to be considered
Really, with Mummy being a big injury risk, Goldy and Sauce being round 8 byes, it really only leave Big Willy, or McEvoy.
To be honest, I'd ride him out, and even give him a game or two with Maric back, just to be sure.

Hi Rowsus,

I am thinking of trading:

Dunstan for Robertson
and
Langdon for Cutler

or

Dunstan for Swan
and
Aish for Cutler (can't afford to offload Langdon for Cutler if I want Swan)

Your opinion is always appreciated.

Also is Billings worth getting in?

Thanks

Actually, because it is so hard at the moment to identify who the F5 and F6 will be come seasons end, I think it's best to develop your other areas first. At least you can have a bit of confidence in your trades there. I'd look to fix Caddy, probably to Lloyd. I don't like the idea of paying so much for NRoo. Let's compare NRoo and Swan, just for convenience sake, I know Swan mightn't fit your structure right now. They're both likely to miss a game or two between now and the end of the season, so let's call that part a tie.
NRoo has averaged over 110 4 times, in seasons 2006/7/8/9 he averaged between 117 and 113. I think it is too much to expect he can do that again. Let's give him a high expectation target of 110 this season, but realistically something in the 106-108 is more likely.
Swan is possibly in decline. 2009/10/11/12 were all over 120, and last year was 117. Let's say he crashes to that same 110.
Assuming they both miss 2 games, and play another 15 for the season, their totals will be 2,200 come seasons end.
NRoo has already scored 606, leaving him 1594 @ 106.3, with his price being $570.0k, each weekly point will cost you $5,364
Swan has already scored 462, leaving him 1738 @ 115.9, with his price being $521.0k, each weekly point will cost you $4,496
It really can be looked at as simply as, that you are buying points. It doesn't always meet expectations, but that is what we are doing. At the moment, the NRoo "expected" points are costing you 19% more than the Swan "expected" points. Why pay 19% more for something that is the same? NRoo points are worth just as much as Swan points in your team total. Buy your points as efficiently as you can.
Also keep in mind, you are not looking for the players that will fill F1-F6 for the season, you are looking for the cheapest Forward that will fill a F1-F6 position, from the time you trade them in! Yes, a "Zorko" might finish the season F6, but you are only interested in what his Ranking will be from the round you trade him into your team, until the end. It's no good trading him in to your team in round 7, and having him finish F6 for the season, if his last 16 games only see him rated F16 for that period of the season from round 7 to round 23.
Swan is following Dal Santo's scoring trajectory, and Selwood is becoming more Pendlebury now. Circle of life/SC. Be interesting to see who the next ones to step up are!

The value in the Langdon to Cutler trade should outstrip the amount Swan's price rises, and I'm not just talking the difference in Langdon and Cutler's respective prices. If money is more important do Langdon to Cutler, if points are more important, get Swan now.

Hey Row,

Im sure most people are looking at similar trades but always like to hear your thinking. If you could make any of the 2 trades below what would you choose? Or something else not mentioned that is worth a risk?

Ellis / M.Thomas to Crouch / Sheed / Robertson / Swan

Ellis / M.Thomas to Lloyd / Billings (Any dpp fwd to mids)

Langdon / Langford to Cutler

Rioli to Lloyd / Billings

Thanks!

rowsus what's your thoughts on adcock as a d6. currently hovering @ $420k after his slow start to season & starting to find form. last 3 seasons avg @ 90. b/e 67
should we take the plunge now or do we wait for other def prem's to have a dip in form to snaffle them up. (bartel/hibberd)
not sure if i should upgrade mid's before worrying about defence but think his price is about right to add to squad

Hey Rowsus which of the following options should I go with.
1.Martin>Lloyd
Dunstan/Aish(which)>robertson
2.Dunstan>Lloyd
Aish>Cutler
3.Dunstan>Robertson
Langdon>Simpson
So basically the players on the chopping board:
Aish Langdon Dunstan, Martin
Players I want to get in:
Lloyd,Robertson, Cutler, Simpson, Hibberd
Currently leaning towards option 3. Dont like the idea of having 200-300k wasted in the bank when we're not too close to the byes

How many trades do you think i should have left after the bye? Do u think 10 would be enough if i have my team pretty much set? or would i want 12 or 13 = to 1 per remaining round?

Hi Rowsus, simple question - has the boat sailed on Crouch?

He's already gone up $69,300, so is it worth jumping on him, or someone else like Robertson/Cutler/Billings?
I'm also not sure about his JS...he seems to be a popular vest candidate.

Hey Rowsus, just a question on Collingwood players, in particular the big 3: Pendles, Swan and Beams.
Can they all score well together? I've got Beams, will be getting Pendles after his bye and am pretty confident in getting Swan this week. Just not sure that all 3 will get me 100s most weeks because of them stealing points from each other, and wanted to know the history of these 3 playing together.

Hey Mike,
I think a lot depends on if Ellis gets selected. If he does you need to dump him this week, if not, the chance is there to keep him until next weeks trades.
I don't particularly like Billings. His score wasn't supported by his stats last week. Dunstan will probably play better in the future, Stevens is still finding form and Armitage has to come back as well. You probably need Billings to average around 80 if you take him, and I'm not confident he can, given the above.
As to choosing between Swan and a Rookie, that comes down to your present need. If you need cash, go the Rookie, if the cash isn't so important, and you need points, go Swan.
The choice between Crouch and Robertson is tough, in general if you are not sure, you should go the cheaper option, if it looks like his JS is ok, and it would seem that Robertsons JS is ok.
Langdon might be closer to cooked than Langford, just based on their B/E's.
Hang onto to Rioli.
Maybe, if Ellis isn't picked, Thomas to Swan/Robertson, depending on need, and Langdon to Cutler.
Good luck :)

Sloth, I think he's a good option as a cheapish shot at a D6. Generally the rule of thumb is to upgrade the Midfield first, where possible, but the rider to that is, value is where you find it. If there is better value to be had elsewhere, then grab that first.

Hey Pro,
option 3 looks like a good option. Unless the need for cash is very pressing, I like to see upgrades done as early as possible.

I doubt you can have your team set by the time the byes are over. That would be some sort of record, if you could.
I tend to look at trades as they are here to use, try not to Waste them though. Get your team finished, then see what you have left over.
A lot also depends on what your goal for the season is. If it's League glory you want to keep an extra 2 or 3 trades up your sleeve, just for the finals.

Hi Bridge
I think Lloyd probably has the first 2 covered, then it's a line ball after that,
It might be best to see the selected teams first, as I think they will probably give us a push in the right direction.

Hi PB,
If he's getting red vested with 80's and 90's that's not such a problem.
He's definitely still a live choice. I don't like Billings, read about 3 posts up as to why.
If you are really not sure on Robertson or Crouch, go Robertson. The cheaper option should win the coin toss each time, if it is a coin toss situation.
As to Cutler or a Mid Rookie, that depends on what your needs are. WHO needs to come out of your team first, a Def or a Mid?

Hey Rowsus,
Just wondering on you opinion on Tyson. Is he likely to improve back to his earlier scoring or stay where he is?

Thanks

I would just say re-Billings, he was selected no.3...well above dunstan @no.18. I think both are a lock to play 80% of games plus for the rest of the year...Billings to take some midfield time off Dunstan.
I think he will be a gun.
