Less than 7 weeks until the footy starts, SC can't be far away, surely.

I know I sent out league invites last year on Australia Day from my PMs, so hopefully within a week or so...
Last year it opened January 23rd (Sunday) with Round 1 being March the 16th.

Round 1 this year is March the 14th.

Usually they’d give us a hint by now.

Can't wait, hanging out to see what the team looks like for the early byes especially, you'd think the team picker includes the bye planner, considering we're paying for it anyway. I guess we'll have it in a few days :)

Fwd benches.

Have some more faith and place him onfield for a fwd setup of Jordon, Harmes, Billings, Reid, Duursma and Darcy. ;)
I wouldn't be picking him just on one tweet from David King. I'd personally want to see a bit more evidence that he's going to be a value pick. Seems positive, but it has previously too. I know he has been injured for a lot of his career so far, but he didn't have great numbers when he was fit either. Maybe he just needs a better run at it and a full pre-season for him to come good.

I would prefer the Wizard on field myself. Getting very positive wraps as well from track watchers and I can't see him not getting a go in the seniors straight away. I'm probably biased though. :)

Showing my age here Ironhawk, but the last Wizard I remember was Jeff Farmer! Who’s the latest Wizard?

Real Izak Rankine vibes about him.

I feel it'll be feast or famine each week, but he's in my team too FWIW.

Anyone thinking of starting Tom Lynch (me) won't be ready until rnd 3

Baker has been training with the mids all pre season

McAuliffe getting a run in the mids during match sim and impressing
Tyler Sonsie for me.

Will only miss the single scoring match (Rd 1) and a few track watchers are happy with how he's going. Looks like he could sneak into the midfield mix & score decently for mine and may be overlooked by many due to his 2x game suspension.

It’s a tough one. If it wasn’t for the suspension, I’d be all over him. I was pretty impressed with him in 2022. Thought he would cement himself into the best 22 for 2023.

What was the reason why he only played 3 games last season? Ability, form, injuries, or a combination of those?

If he is clearly in their best 22 I’ll probably go there, but if he isn’t I find it hard to start someone at 150k who could just be a donut. Will probably keep an eye on him and view him as a possible correction trade.

Thoughts on following players playing early - Saints Wilson who has allegedly training well, Freo's Taberner if fit, GWS Gothard and Pies MacCrae? Considering all these as forward 5/6?

How is Tom Brown travelling?

Not sure if he is best 22 but I’d rather pick him over Gibcus tbh

Brown has put some weight on and grown a bit, could be that 3rd tall, rebounding defender and would score ok, he's behind Broad, Grimes and Vlastuin for that role though, reckon an injury could see him slot in.

Sonsie has been very outside, so there's been a bit work from him to firstly get his defensive game up to scratch plus a bit of work getting his hands dirty. Seems like Dow has been preferred in CBA's where he's good at clearances, but like Brown has had a few to get past, Cotchin retiring does help but again I think an injury or two will see him getting games. That being said, Yze has made a point of wanting excellent users of the footy in and around the ball and Sonsie (as well as Brown) excel in that regard, it's why the Baker boy has been training with the mids

Sonsie deserved a much larger suspension for his cheap hit off the ball. Im not sure how his attitude is rated at Richmond.

Wilson a good chance. Many have Macrae in their side yet let's see.

Taberner one I hadn't looked at. Digging deeper, if fit, it looks like he is best 22. However due to coming back from injury they played him through WAFL in last 4 games to ease him back in. He did break down in the last game or so which is maybe more of a concern. Value wise, price at 31 and did 58 and 68 in last two seasons, again, only played 3/4s of the games.

Gothard - haven't heard much from training, GWS paid way overs for him as they thought he was a top 10 talent (and NSW) which suggests he may play early. Small forward, should make a $100k if he plays.

Wilson and Gothard would be pick of bunch if selected, Taberner stronger best 22 player with injury issues, Macrae always hard to say if he stays in side
