Wilson a good chance. Many have Macrae in their side yet let's see.

Taberner one I hadn't looked at. Digging deeper, if fit, it looks like he is best 22. However due to coming back from injury they played him through WAFL in last 4 games to ease him back in. He did break down in the last game or so which is maybe more of a concern. Value wise, price at 31 and did 58 and 68 in last two seasons, again, only played 3/4s of the games.

Gothard - haven't heard much from training, GWS paid way overs for him as they thought he was a top 10 talent (and NSW) which suggests he may play early. Small forward, should make a $100k if he plays.

Wilson and Gothard would be pick of bunch if selected, Taberner stronger best 22 player with injury issues, Macrae always hard to say if he stays in side
Thanks👍

Taberner is an interesting one. If he was clearly best 22 and getting a game every week then he does represent some value being priced the same as a high priced rookie. However I am not sure that he is best 22 now. Unfortunate that he has had so many injuries so that raises the first question. Also now Freo have Amiss and Treacy who are only youngsters and being the future maybe they would want to get more games into them than Taberner who turns 31 in June.

It might be that Darcy is actually the key to Taberners chances of playing. If he stays fit that probably means Jackson is in the forward line for big chunks of the game. Jackson, Amiss, and Treacy doesn’t leave a lot of room for another tall. And Fyfe will be in there somewhere possibly. If Darcy gets injured and Jackson is the ruck maybe Taberner will get a better chance. Will need to see how they use Taberner pre season to assess his game time chances.

Hmmm - that’s a tad concerning 🤔
This reminds me of something I have thought for ages … for teams like the Dogs, the role rotation is bad for those who don’t have DPP and/or are very highly priced - but also vice versa.

Bont priced at 130 must surely have more downside than upside risk.

Hopefully there’s a decent alternative.

Coincidentally I’ve just seen the below text from a follow up Tweet.

Unfortunately I think I’ll look elsewhere.

“Not expecting a significant role adjustment, but man hopefully enough to hit the first DPP upgrade threshold would be nice.

Bont in the rehab group all pre-season following ankle surgery, you can see a path to ease the midfield usage early in the year.

Fingers crossed.”

The only thing that’s incorrect is he already is in full training so that part is wrong

So let's look over the other side of the fence. Who could it benefit? Macrae more mid than fwd to help pick up the slack? Harmes to get a solid mid time role? Treloar or Daniel to run through more? Or will the rookies get a go like Riley Sanders or Bedendo? Will be interesting to see what opportunities for other players might turn up.

It could also mean nothing, Bont could've just been giving a form response, those AFL Ratings articles look like they were written by A.I.
Xander Mcguire is Eddy Mcguire's son and is in his early 20's ? Not being ageist but I'd prefer my information from a more experienced journalist.
What's the stats site where we can check how much midfield to fwd ratio a player played? I'd like to see what he did last year and previous years because from memory, he still scores pretty well as a fwd.

Ive always been more interested in picking from that cheaper range that still have upside personally, got right up there largely finding value last year and the only pick that didnt really work as a starter was paying 700k for Laird.

Slightly different game this season but I doubt I'll change strategy too much.

iopening bounce R1 starts fwd. We get creamed in the centre all half, back in the mids he goes. We struggle big time without him there.
Every preseason there’s talk of Bont spending more time up forward and every season ends up being too valuable in the midfield…
He’s still in my team and I doubt he’ll be leaving it.
