How is everyone thinking about Jack Macrae now that he has inj hamstring, if we cannot start him at F1? Interested in pivot strategies.

1) Switch to Dusty tempting give some talk of mid time, although has worst combination of byes (extra and R15).
2) Hope a rookie comes along and upgrade elsewhere yet $550k is a little short of quality mids and defenders.
3) Downgrade to a mid pricer and upgrade elsewhere. I have Cam Guthrie as a placeholder yet if I go to 6 mids, the 6th has to be Bont, Petracca or Oliver, which all have various issues of price, bye or working from home.

Only thing working for me is Macrae to Fyfe and Guthrie to Petracca. Couple of less price forwards could be considered if the Tabs or others are there round 1.

Couple of weeks out this far from the start of the season doesn't seem to be a problem, especially when they expect him to play in the match sim in a few weeks. I'm assuming it is not going to be a Clayton Oliver style couple of weeks anyway...

I've said it elsewhere, but I wouldn't feel the need to change at this stage. Plenty of time to find an alternative if it does happen to linger through the various practice matches, but I doubt it happens.

I had checked my Freo levels, at what point should I seek medical attention?
  1. Young
  2. Chapman
  3. Serong
  4. Fyfe
  5. Sharp
  6. Jackson
Space for Ryan and Brayshaw. Also create a league for those running 6+ Freo players. I recall a league for those who thought Titch was going to be the bomb at the hawks on transfer. It performed well. Unlike my MPM league a few years earlier.

I'll watch Dusty closely. If they load up the CBA structure towards him he's going to be a 🔐. If he's lethargic he's a 🪤. I don't think the Dusty decision is contingent on Macrae. Plenty of space for Premo forwards.

At #2 and onwards. :sneaky::LOL:

Young is a lock for me, 105 average should be enough for a top 6 defender (or top 7-8 at worst) and he averaged 106 over his L5 (~74% CBA) and 116 over L4 (~79% CBA)

Chapman is in a bit of an awkward range, think I'd rather him off half-back than a wing, apparently Brandon Walker is looking good on return from his injury too which would muddle the waters. One to watch for me.

I guess nothing wrong with Serong. Didn't seem negatively effected by Young late in the year.

Fyfe - - would take any playing rookie over him. It would be interesting if Sharp gets a Round 1 gig. Would be pretty hard to avoid. Hopefully they go with Frederick/Chapman/NOD (or even Aish or Johnson rotating through there) as I don't rate him.

Jackson had a great time without Darcy last year, but unless Darcy was out for the year, I wouldn't consider. Freo do have a decent ruck start to the season if Darcy was confirmed out for 4-6+ weeks.

Just my thoughts!

Blues best 22 for 2024.

B: Kemp, Weita, Newman
HB; Saad, Gov, Williams
C: Acres, Cerra, Doc
HF: E. Holland, Curnow, Cottrell
F: Motlop, McKay, Martin
Foll: De Koning, Cripps, Walsh

Bench: Pitto, O Holland, Marchbank, Fogarty/Owies.

Unless there is an injury or resting players can't see how Hewett, Kennedy, Binns, Boyd or the new draftees get a gig in the team above. Unless they play one ruckman.

There's a few ways I've thought of for my team.

1. Downgrade Macrae to a midpricer like Harmes. Use the cash to upgrade Gawn > English and Steele > Petracca. Means running 11 premos only but some very strong premos

2. Downgrade Macrae to a rookie, and with a bit of rejigging (downgrading 1 or two rookies to cheaper options) I can squeeze Brayshaw into my midfield. Means relying on a couple of potentially dodgy rookies.

3. Swap Macrae for a cheaper option like Baker and use the extra cash on 1-2 minor upgrades elsewhere. Depends on Baker actually having the midfield role that's been talked about

I really just don't like any of the other top tier forward options at this stage (other than Flanders who I already have). Jackson I only see being worth it if Darcy is out for the start of the season. I also am not a fan of many of the ~550k mid or defence options to pivot to.

I'm mostly just hoping Macrae ends up still a viable F1 option at the moment

re choices

1) Gawn up not preferred by most although Steele up is. 11 premiums feels ok this year, 12 if the cheap rookies actually come.
2) That's ok, Freo mids little hard to pick although price protects you given his better 2H.
3) Not a fan of Baker, been there.

Yeah, starts to have knock on effect to other players, current change in theory see neutral scoring impact although risk is Amon role vs many save a trade if successful.

Macrae 105 > Caddy 60
Guthrie 100 > Amon 105
Chapman 75 > Sicily 115

Weita is in doubt for the start of the season so there could be an opportunity for someone.

Crouch, Amon, Guthrie, N Martin or any other 450-500K player. I am considering three in this price range. Too many? Crouch and Guthrie probably traded at their byes.
