What are people's thoughts on Dylan Shiel with no Setterfield and Parish, and with a soft run coming up? I imagine he'll be on the FA lists for plenty of leagues, worth picking up as a mid option for the next month or so?
I’m picking Merrett in Classic partly on this basis, so it seems logical to me.

I seem to recall Shiel may have copped a knock or the like last week, so worth just checking on that if you’re looking at him.

Any sneaky beneficiaries at the Dees while Oliver misses a week or two? @Ben's Beasts – My midfield is on life support in draft with Hopper Guthrie Setterfield all injured.

Sparrow a sneaky add?

I feel your pain as I have Touk and Guthrie out injured also.

Oliver out will likely benefit Brayshaw most but may see an increase in CBA’s for Sparrow too. Not the worst option.

11.15am AEST and waivers yet to go through nor FA's available when they should have been available from 4am.

Most of us are in Finals this week with cash on the line for some of us.

Not good enough!

I just checked my keeper league and 2 trades haven't gone though and the settings say, "Allow Keeper League To Continue Trading Post Season?" and it's set to no.
Weird because I was definitely trading the last 2 weeks of our finals.

These sort of glitches seem to have happened all year, really isnt good enough especially when they are reeling in coin from SC Plus etc.

Not sure where to post this but thought I would post it here as it is kinda SC planning.
Need some sage like advice.

In a SC draft cash league with 12 keepers. I have built this team up over the last 4 years to win the GF last year.

But my problem is who would you keep out of the team below? 10-11 pretty much pick themselves but it is the last 2 I need some help with.
Do you got go with someone proven like Guthrie or Simpkin or do you go with an up and comer like Callaghan? Or do you keep bazlinka? Let us know your thoughts and who you would keep.

Team:
Bont - Keep
Butters - keep
Gawn - keep
Curnow - keep
McBags - keep
Young - keep
Warner - Keep
Docherty - keep
Heeney - keep
Rivers - keep ? just getting better
Wardlaw - keep? Primed for big 2nd year

Last spot

Bazlinka - ACL (just put on bench as VG player)

Cam Gutherie - proven performer main mid for cats but probably only 2 years left

Simpkin - proven performer- does he get pushed out of mid to give kids more opportunity? Has mentioned this already

Callaghan - up and comer saw what capable of in final against pies.

Brayden Campbell DPP - only getting better

Brennan Cox - high scoring defender

Brodie Smith - racks em up

Jarman Impey - hawks distributitor

Zac Fisher - plumb role for roos out of def

Jayden Hunt - key distributor

Miles Bergman - nice role last year

Marcus Windhager DPP - up and comer - great back half last year

Matthew Johnston

Or do I take a DPP?

Draft is later in month so need to lock in keepers b4 then.

Let me know your thoughts who u would take for the last 2-3 or why you wouldn't keep one of the keep players above?

At the moment I just can't decide on who to keep in the last spot.

Thanks.

Nice side. If you can trade in your league, there is a fair bit to work with there.

I think it probably depends on how much you want to prioritise this year over others.

If you want to maximize your chances of scoring well this year, I’d probably take the 11 you have listed and whoever you think best complements that group. It looks like that may be Guthrie, but it depends on the on field setup, who will be in the pool etc.

Personally I would say that you are a good chance next year as well. Gawn and Doc are probably the two keepers that are oldest, and both should still be good next year. Young, Warner and Wardlaw may improve, and Smith should be fit. You might even be stronger next year if Gawn holds up okay.

If you are open to a more balanced approach, I’d be inclined to keep Smith. I’ve seen some suggestions he may even be back a bit early, so that would be worth forming a clear view on.

The other one who stands out to me is Rivers - he’s not in the same league as the other keepers in my view, albeit his 2023 average was better than I would have guessed. There is talk of him playing more mid time, but it’s hard to see him being one of the main mids near term if Oliver gets himself sorted out. He’s handy as a defender this year, especially if he gets some more mid minutes, but I’m not sure if he is likely to be a top mid longer term. I probably wouldn’t treat him as locked in myself.

I reckon a lot of people would take Callaghan over Rivers in a keeper league. I would probably do the same if you can cover him in defense this season.

Thanks mate.
12 keepers rest put back into draft pool unfortunately.

5, 7, 1, 5 on field and 12 on bench for the year.

But you can trade after draft with another team.

Guess I kept Rivers as I already have my 6 keepers in the mids.

So went another defender.

But will definitely have a think about your suggestions above. Thanks.

That makes sense. It’s a pity you can’t trade at the moment, it’s a good list!

If anybody is running a draft league and needs another player I would be keen to join. I played a few years ago and quite enjoyed its differences from Classic.

Finished my redraft league team on Friday night and thought I’d share here to see if there are any glaring holes/weaknesses. All in all, I left fairly happy.

Short, Duggan, JClark, Himmelberg, Scrimshaw (LMcDonald)
Bont, Oliver, Brayshaw, BCrouch, McCluggage, MCrouch, Atkins (BScott, MKennedy)
Grundy (Xerri)
Dusty, Rankine, Hogan, Rachele, McKay (Harmes)

Have a draft coming up in a few days and I’m a bit torn with who to take at pick 5. It’s a 5/7/1/5 plus 4 bench draft with 10 teams.
I’m assuming Bont, Daicos and English go top 3 in some order. Weighing up if I go a ruck (Gawn, Marshall) or a mid.. where I’m stuck is what mid, as I can see potential risk with a few.
Petracca - scores worse with Oliver?
Adel boys - seems to be a few who will play mid, too many cooks?
Butters - ankle tweak in preseason game

Others I’m weighing up are Merrett, Green, Libba, LDU, Serong..

There are so many and it’s a hard call.. ideally this pick is a genuine C option so need safety

Take your top ranked mid I reckon. You should be able to get a decent ruckman late in a ten team league.
My problem is I don’t know who my top ranked mid is.. Probably Petracca but I’m definitely worried about the Oliver factor.

Oliver is tending to slide still. You could get whoever you settle on then clarry on the way back

Sorry, more meant if Oliver impacts Petracca to the point his scoring goes backwards on last year. There’s been a narrative that he scores best when Oliver is out so it has me nervous!
