Do we think that the Hawthorn backline injury crisis makes Sicily less of a lock?
Feel like he's now going to be forced into playing more of a lock-down role.
I think so. Possible upgrade target now, rather than a starter. Too much risk that he moves from being that free roaming player we all want to having to lock a forward down.

See how he goes this weekend as well, that might be contrary to the above.

Agreed.

Have faded him and brought in Stewart. Too many unknowns about Sicily’s role to pay that much from day 1.

Yeah I feel like the latest strategy is to boost hard to complete your team as quick as possible, carrying max 1 to the byes (but even then not necessarily). It will be interesting to see how it goes this season but what j saw last year was that the aggressive trading to maximize value was split across jumping on a rising premium, missed rookie/MP etc.. but if trades are locked in to sideways premiums to dodge byes it feels like it’ll impact that strategy, especially when it comes time to cull some early cash makers to get that first premium in - it’ll likely be 2 down 1 up but for teams needing to sideways trade then can only do the 2 down and may need to push the upgrade back a week.

So much we don’t know given how unique the season is, but I’m interested to see how the various strategies pan out!
I think most people considering a sideways trade play with premiums though are considering it with players who have the first 2 bye rounds, whereby there won’t have been enough cash from rookies to make an upgrade anyway.

I agree if that’s you’re play with Melbourne, Tigers, Sydney, or Pies players though, it’s not a great plan.

As of this moment Sicily and Amon for those interested in them seem to be a wait and see now, until their defensive line is set.
Amon, feels pretty settled. Frost, sic, scrim to play large. Impey, weddle, Amon run and carry out of D50. Weddle can also play large. Despite his elite running ability, he's a big guy.

I'm on the fence about this, I've gone over the the impact Blanck had on him purely because it nullified Sicily's need to lockdown defend as we all know. But I'm eagerly waiting on how Sam uses Ethan Phillips for this. I'm almost certain he and his entire coaching staff acknowledge the impact it has on Sicily so I trust that they'll adjust to suit him.

We'll see. But personally I'm locking him in until it's proven ineffective.

It’s still one less correction trade or one extra boost used. Do they go ahead with the sideways trade and miss a rookie with good cash gen, or carry a premium they didn’t want during their bye and therefore lose any potential advantage they had planned?
Just think it’ll be interesting to see what the optimal play is. Especially given there will be a difference in when cash gen kicks in for some players..

Totally on board with this. I'm starting Tom Green because he's a good pick. I can see people going I can get more points and correct into him post bye, or I'll trade him pre-bye. Sure in an ideal world where you have got all your rookies MP breakouts correct. This is perfect SC la la land. Nek Minit you'll be doing upgrades, fixing injuries, chasing fallen premiums and I'm hoping he's out of reach. Albeit he's got some serious % ownership already.

Don't think there is any issue with this. Everyone will have a premium or two that has an early bye. The question will always be though, how many of these do you carry pre-bye. There will be a tipping point where you will miss valuable points though. 100% we don't to be trading a LDU to a Green post the GWS bye, but I think the extra 4 trades allows for some leverage around this now.

At the same time though you're consciously introducing another known complexity into those potential complexities around the bye period. We know Green has the bye, we don't know what rookie corrections or injuries there might be at this stage. Known known and known unknowns.

For the record I am on the fence with Green, but I'm also conscious of the risks we know he presents.

Might do a mini-write up on this one later, North so fantasy relevant. Collingwood pretty irrelevant though  (actually, Reef I'm fairly sure is best 23 this year and is $123900, so he adds to the Pies relevance with Macrae/Daicos etc)
I now have four Roos on field and I've even removed one from my team today who was on field too!
