Opinion 2024 AFL SuperCoach Planning Thread

So my summary from an SC perspective as far as any relevant midpricers or rookies go;
Melbourne
Billings - Did pretty much what you would want him to do as an owner. Decent role. Had 17 touches, used it well, kicked a goal and laid some tackles. Should be in contention for our forward lines if structure allows with the likes of Fyfe, Jordon and Harmes ✅
Windsor - Had a very good first half, used it well, kicked a couple of goals and was then rested for most of the last quarter. Looks good for a spot on field in our forward lines ✅
Laurie - 17 touches, didn’t do anything too flashy but looks okay for an average around 60. A decent bench option. JS a query but should string some games together ✅
Howes - Started well but then faded. I don’t think he will score particularly well and suspect his JS isn’t too flash ✖️
Schache - Was surprisingly decent but as a back-up ruck he was quite poor. Won just the one hit-out. Suspect his JS isn’t the best and scoring potential quite poor too ✖️
Carlton
Fantasia - Did some nice things but unlikely to score well enough in the small forward role and would appear to not be worth the elevated price tag either ✖️
Any of the other rookie priced players barely featured and are very unlikely for round 1 unless they are the sub.

From an observer at WCE training today re Harley Reid’s injury:-
- Harley Reid pulled up from a drill about half an hour in with some sort of minor issue (wasn’t showing any limp) and went to get some work done by a physio on the bench. After a brief fitness test he was right to go again, and did the rest of the session with the exception of the 10 minutes of skill work after the match play - looks like just a no-risk approach.

Fyfe back in the guts and know what his body can handle and using footy iq good enough for me.
With Mills and now Parker out Jordan slides onto a wing.
Billings was clean tonight, had a decent role as the connector and finished.
With Smith out Harmes should get a gig
Be watching the games with interest this weekend but if Reid doesn't wow be easy to go down to Windsor and then up from Livingston to Naismith.

But if he is attending or near stoppages around the ground, are these not more important than centre bounce attendances given no magic multipliers are added to a CBA and around the ground stoppages make up a greater portion of the match? With his style of play and price point, does a “CBA” really matter?
Do Melbourne rotate players from the wing into the stoppages or a forward takes the stoppage in the forward line, etc or does the CBA setup stay the same no matter the length between goals or quarters (if no goals are kicked)?

Very fair point - I guess CBAs generally just give you that extra bit of insurance in addition to around the ground stoppages don’t they?
I just worry there might be games where he doesn’t get near it and throws up a 30-odd I suppose, but yeah you would think an 80+ average is very achievable for him otherwise
