Ah don't you love the morning after rage trade.

Thankfully RD 0's free hit has given us some early data

Look at Footywire and check the last time Heeney went huge with a 150 in round 15 last year - he followed it up with 46. Don't go there people regardless of how putrid the forward options are. Not convinced once a few come back he will be 85% forward sharing with Papley for points.

Gawny I love ya but it looks like you are cooked against a decent ruckman. The day out against my boys last week was a fake score as TDK was being experimented with floating around and Pitto well underdone.

Billings is just a shorter version of Schache - 80% potato. I get the price based on his 2020 form is tasty - but its 2024 and the bloke spends more time in the medical room than on field.

Tonight should answer a few more questions.

Jordan will stay for the moment, as will Gawn and Roberts. Grundy never left.

Howes the popular in so far. Have moved Pink on for him as well as Billings for Cadman. Lots of cash in the bank for other knee jerk moves. Most likely I’ll move Gulden on, shouldn’t get too far out of reach before his bye but could easily go big against all his opponents before his bye. Role is yuck though.

Not getting sucked into Heeney, great role for now but too much uncertainty. Add in the bye and it doesn’t look good.

Gawn 583k to Grundy 481k. English 715k currently R1. Jackson 547k makes the Ruck line interesting.
Exactly what I did. And by doing it it allowed me to punt Billings for Heeney, which is definitely a win. Already had Jackson at F1, but it's a gamble given his price but is very handy as a ruck backup as well.

Also brought in Blakey (for Whitfield), looks to have a somewhat SC friendly game, although he did have 2 clever goal assists to help pump up his score. Averaged nearly 90 last season and is coming into his 7th season. If he can pump that up to (at least) a 95 average, that’s enough to hold down D6 for the season and call it a win. Always been a frustrating ride owning Whitfield in the past, so it felt good on that front at least. Worth a punt in my eyes.

Heeney in. Role looks perfect and I can't see who displaces him until at least the injured players come back.
I thought I heard Heeney say last night he was training with the mids even before they picked up all their injuries. Sounds like a permanent mid role for him, though I'm sure we've all been sucked in by this kind of talk before.

Given we only need him to perform, in an SC sense, as a forward, I feel it’s a good risk-reward scenario.

Happy to keep Grundy, Gawn, Jordon.
Billings to Fyfe (still not sold on Fyfe).
Howe on field D6.
Heeney in both roles top 10 so considering but think he will still get lots of low scores and easy upgrade later in the year, just to many in that first bye.

Gawn has only scored 100+ in 1/6 opening rounds going back to 2019. He's always slow off the mark. Wouldn't be writing him off just yet. He put up 140 against English last year.

Great point. Some players seem to start well or slowly.

Strange things happen in the first round of the season.

I put this in the planning thread, but it belongs here I guess:

As much as I shouldn't, I've reacted to the first game of Rd 0. This is how I'lI end up spending all 40 trades when the real stuff starts

I have returned Heeney to my side, where he'd been all summer before the Jackson/Darcy change.

But I did it by culling a couple of 250-280k players who should never have been in my side in the first place (Tsatas and Cox), and by moving Gawn to Grundy.

I'd drawn a line through Grundy, but the risk of him being a big negative POD if he makes 150k in the opening month was too big. And similarly, if Gawn is to stop those dollars.

So I guess I have an extra premium now.

I've been tinkering a bit, main ones tonight being Z Williams>Howes, Billings out and putting Jackson forward and then getting Grundy in ruck. My main concern with Grundy was whether he was going to be solo ruck. I said to myself beforehand. that Grundy was the only real 'premium' player that I would consider bringing in based on round 0 performance and he looked amazing.

Howes seems like a lock after that as well.

Going to try and make sure any other round 0 based changes are based on rookie scores rather than premiums or mid pricers who started well, will see how that goes though.

Well that didn't last long haha, Z Williams back in but for Gibcus, brought Sheezel in for Stewart(Mostly been choosing between the 2 for a while)

Leaves me with only 1 defensive rookie(Howes) on field and happy with my structure overall with Coleman D4 Williams D5.
Edit: Missed the Coleman injury, back to the drawing board

Gotta love in game trading. SC tripped over a goldmine.
