Event 3: Milano-Sanremo and Event 4: Volta a Catalunya.

I am now accepting entries for Milano-Sanremo, which is a one day monument to be held this Saturday. You will be picking three riders, you may only pick a maximum of one from the group of favourites below. Your other two (or three) riders can be anyone else outside of this group.

Milano-Sanremo: F Ganna, M Mohoric, M Pedersen, T Pogacar, M Van Der Poel

I will open selections for Volta a Catalunya later in the week, this race commences next Monday and will be a seven stage tour, similar to our first two events. The list of favourites are yet to be determined for this event.

Entries via PM as always. I'll post my selections closer to the races commencing.
Updating this a bit earlier than planned.

Favourites:

Volta a Catalunya: E Bernal, S Kuss, T Pogacar, A Vlasov, S Yates

This appears to be a more up to date start list than what is currently on PCS.

Milano-Sanremo Selections:

I expected Pogacar and Van Der Poel to be the two selected out of the favourites, nice to see an even split. I did expect to see a bit more variety for the other two selections though.

That was quite a tough race to pick outside of the favourites. Kiewa was the only one who managed to select two who finished in the top 10, with Matthews just missing the win. Nobody selected Philipsen for the win, however once he cleared the Poggio with the lead bunch, he was going to be the favourite to win the sprint.

Dravid regains the lead that he held for the short time between Paris-Nice and Tirreno-Adriatico finishing. Kiewa jumps into second and is not far off the pace after a strong event. Bonaparte with minimal points in that event dropped from first to third.

I will post the dashboards tonight. Just a reminder that the Volta a Catalunya starts tomorrow night, I've only received a few entries so far.

Dashboards after three events:

Bonaparte.png Chels.png Dravid.png Ironhawk.png Kiewa.png Old Big Ead.png Tso.png Woosie.png

Two achievements have been unlocked by various people so far as you can see on the dashboards. These are:

Paris-Nice.png
Paris-Nice Winner Achievement.
Unlocked by selecting the winner of Paris-Nice amongst your four selections.
Awarded to: Bonaparte, Dravid, Kiewa, tso

You will find the achievement images are either a bit jokey or relates to what the achievement actually is. This is more of the former. When I think of Nice, I think of the biscuit rather than the city in France. Although not my favourite biscuit, I do agree that they are quite nice.

Tirreno-Adriatico.png
Tirreno-Adriatico Winner Achievement.
Unlocked by selecting the winner of Tirreno-Adriatico amongst your four selections.
Awarded to: Bonaparte, chels, Dravid, Ironhawk, Kiewa, Old Big 'Ead, tso, Woosie

Every year, Tirreno-Adriatico finishes in the city of San Benedetto del Tronto on the Adriatic coast. The Monument to the Fisherman is a statue located on the waterfront in this city, so I chose that for the image. As it is the "Race of the Two Seas", I did consider a pack of CC's chips for the image, but decided against it - I thought that was a bit corny.

There was definitely a mixture in selections for this event, apart from one notable exception of course.

Van Gils out already
That's bad luck, not being bad at this. Crashes happen. As I said, he was one I was considering too, I liked the pick. Just bad luck for yourself and Bonaparte - we'll all cop it at some point.

Always great seeing an Aussie win, and well done to Nick Schultz on beating a superstar to the line. For somebody who is so bad at this, tso is the sole leader after the first stage, so maybe it is good to be bad?
