Volta a Catalunya Stage 2 Results:

Close scoring after a couple of days of racing. One rider dominating the points in all teams will probably do that. Landa and Vlasov looking the best of the rest for the other two podium spots based on today, but Pog is looking a class above, winning the stage by more than a minute.

Volta a Catalunya Stage 3 Results:

This event is basically done. Pog wins Stage 3 going clear, again. Landa 2nd, again. Looking like the interesting battles in our comp will be who gets 1st out of Dravid and Old Big 'Ead, and who gets 3rd out of everyone else.

Rodriguez came 7th in stage 3, I'll update those standings in a few hours. A few others have been close too, such as Uijtdebroeks in stage 3 (12th). Not everyone had them as their 2nd selection, I just try to group them a bit to make it easier for me when they are in the same column.

Volta a Catalunya Stage 4 Results:

With most of us not selecting any sprinters, a day finishing in a bunch sprint of almost the entire peloton is not going to lead to many points. Kiewa the only one to score any points today, with Hayter finishing 7th on the stage.

No points awarded in Stage 5, as none of our riders finished top 10, I'll post a combined update after Stage 6, as I expect plenty of points in that one.

As mentioned, nobody selected anyone who placed top 10 in this stage. Moving on...

Pogacar won again, did it easily. Bernal pretty much locked in the final podium spot that was up for grabs - there were significant time gaps today. Not much else of note, except that Van Wilder was a DNF, meaning tso is down to two riders for the final stage.

Pogacar won the final stage, and the GC (if there was any doubt). I'll post the summary in the next day or two.

Just a reminder of the next few events that are coming up. The Tour of Flanders will be held next Sunday (31/3), Itzulia Basque Country starts the next day (1/4) and Paris-Roubaix in a couple of weeks on 7/4. I'll post more info on selections for the first two of these over the Easter weekend. Startlists are fairly complete, I just need to settle on the 5 favourites for each (Itzulia in particular is a very strong field).

Volta a Catalunya Stage 7 Results:

Pogacar dominated this event throughout. Higuita the only other selection from anyone to score points in this stage. Uijtdebroeks a DNF for three of us capping off a very disappointing event.

Dravid edges out Old Big 'Ead in what was the clear top 2 battle from a long way out. Woosie and myself tied for 3rd in a close battle amongst the rest of the field without Landa.

Standings after 4 events:

1711451013748.png

Dravid now with a healthy lead, however there are a lot of big point events in the back half of the season, and the opportunity to replace low scores, so things can very quickly change.

Dashboards to be updated over the Easter long weekend (most likely).

Great effort with all of this @Ironhawk. If only, Higuita had tried that little harder in that bunch sprint on the last stage... :p

Horrible crash to watch last night, will have massive repercussions over tour of Flanders in terms of the strength of the field fighting for the win

WvA was definitely a favourite of mine going into Flanders. Girmay/Pederson/Stuyven all in doubt now too.

Favourites - Tour of Flanders and Itzulia Basque Country

As I expect some of you may be away for Easter, I thought I'd post these early (ish) to give you a bit more time to make selections.

The crash last night did change things a bit for the Tour of Flanders, as WVA would have been on this list. Hoping all of these now start, but even so, I expect everyone will pick the same rider anyway:

T Benoot
B Girmay
M Jorgenson
M Pedersen
M Van Der Poel

Itzulia has a much tougher field to choose the winner. Favourites are:

J Ayuso
R Evenepoel
P Roglic
M Skjelmose
J Vingegaard

I'll post my selections closer to the start of each race. Good luck.

My picks for the next two events:

Tour of Flanders:

M Van Der Poel
M Mohoric
O Lazkano

Outside of MVDP, this is a very open race - for second, I don't see anyone else challenging for the win here. Just hoping to sneak some points with my other two riders, but there's likely a few others with better chances for a podium finish if I was putting money on it (I try not to pick the betting favourites with my selections outside of the top pick, so there's at least a bit of variety in selections).

Itzulia Basque Country:

J Vingegaard
M Landa
T Pidcock
I Del Toro

The final stage of this race will be interesting, this will be where all the action happens, but I still think there's plenty in contention for points there. Not expecting to see massive gaps between the GC riders over the first 5 stages, outside of the TT. No real sprinters here (or sprintable stages), so thinking a few breakaways may survive. The top pick was tough, I like all 5 favourites here, but the other 3 picks are even tougher!

Flanders start list is locked in (race is later today), as for Itzulia about half the teams are officially confirmed less than 48 hours out (the rest indicative), so time to start thinking about your selections if you haven't yet.

Flanders starts in half an hour, been out all day, but I think there's one or two regulars still to enter.

Edit: Race has started. On Viceland for any Aussies.

going to be a hectic start fighting for the break here as the race organisers have opted to race on wider roads at the start compared to other years, with every team wanting to be represented in the break in order to make alpecin chase I think we will have a real quick first hour
