What do other Jackson owners think about this news? Does it lock in a sideways trade next week while his value is at ~600K?

Can easily jump to a Serong/Butters/English type at that price...
I’ll probably hold onto him to see how he scores with Darcy in. You would assume it’ll take Darcy a couple weeks to get back up to full speed anyway, which means Jackson will be running amok still.

Yeah that is a fair call.

I guess my concern is that upgrade season will have truly started at Round 6, so we'll probably be stuck with Jackson until the byes if his scoring suffers and we haven't already jumped off at Round 5...

I'll be keen to jump off but not in Round 5 as he covers Grundy's bye quite nicely, should still have a managable BE and never know how Darcy goes first game back. Assuming BE is still not out of control, would probably keep Round 6 as well (for Gawn's bye) then jump off at Round 7. It's a bit of a balance of jumping off too quickly (Darcy re-injury or LJ keeps scoring well) or too late (starts dropping in price too much, copping 70-80 scores if mostly forward)

In an ideal world, he has a poor run between Rounds 6-12, gets to his pre-season price, then if Darcy has another injury, could hop on again.

I think he's a keeper, good for a couple of goals, 35/65 ruck split at minimum. We'll definitely see him around the ground as they'll have talls in Taberner recently returned, coupled with Treacy up forward. I'm definitely holding.

Double trade in round 7, Jackson and Heeney to Dawson & Oliver. I’m up for it if you guys are..

I agree with this, especially given there isn't an abundance of forward premiums putting their hands up to outscore him and the DPP is always handy!

Definitely a consideration for me. Has 3 really nice ruck matchups in a row (TDK, Soldo, Williams) so I’m hoping Darcy takes an extra week or two or they ease him in. Hopefully he can take advantage and push his price up. Would have to be closer to the 650k mark than say the 600k mark though for me to pull the trigger.

Think he goes 95-100 when Darcy is at full fitness. Were times last week where they used Treacy in the ruck and parked Jackson as the deepest forward.

Another consideration for keeping him for me is his ability to cover Gawn at his bye in R6, plus ability to cover any 1 week ruck injuries.
Do we really think that Gawn plays every game at 32 years of age when rucking 80% of games?

Yeah, that’s the other aspect you have to consider. Personally, after round 6 is probably the time I’d trade so the early byes wouldn’t matter by that point. Also have doubts on whether Gawn plays every game but I don’t think we’ll see him ‘managed/rested’ until after the mid-season bye.

Eyeing off Toby Conway next week pending on how his situation pans out. I do think the Cats should persist with him. Chris Scott came out today and said “his performance was really encouraging” but he also said “he’s going to be managed carefully” and he isn’t able to play week- in week-out at this stage. Only had 66% TOG so I assume his fitness levels aren’t up to scratch yet. One who could maybe be used as cover at R3?

I agree with this. I think he is still one of the best forward options with Darcy in the team but with 40 trades you'd have to think about it. Breakeven of 57. If he gets over $600k after the early byes.................
Get him back in for $500k after his bye as a slingshot. 6 rounds without him.

Think he’ll be a hold firstly as he is cover for Gawn and Grundy on their byes.
Currently he is F1, and I can’t see many M/F coming from the midfield any time soon?
I think I saw something saying Sanders was the best midfielder to get forward status, maybe Bont if they play more WCE games 🤣 Most of the midfielders getting DPP are going to Defence.
At worse does he drop out of the top 6 forwards prior to his bye?
Natural progression, think he is easily a 100/105 forward.
As @WindyHillWizard says he can cover a week or 2 of ‘injuries/resting’ if required.
Heeney, Jackson, Flanders, maybe Powell? Zorko if he stays halfback and injury free will do it.
Then the way its shaping up KPF are going to be our goto players of choice soon like McKay, King, Hogan(some have already been there, done that) or Curnow.
I think if you have Jackson he is a hold till bye, as at worse a 90’s man but he’ll do better than that.
Macrae and Moore both scored a 59 and seem a long way off what they promised in the pre season.
