Pre teams, 220k in the kitty. Looking like:

Meek to Sweet and run with Sweet at R2 until the byes.
Have made 450k out of Meek with two trades. He's got a bit more to make, but the emergence of Sweet means that Meek is getting culled this week

Enables
D'Ambrosio > Dale
Cadman > JHF

Dale just too good value to ignore at that price if he keeps his role.
JHF looking reasonably solid for an F4-6.
Good call on JHF, should get a little boost with Rozee being out for a couple.

It’s a great point you make.
He still has Williams it probs means for his side it’s time to upgrade Roberts now rather than still trying to shuffle on field rookies around just to milk him a bit more.
Depending on his team setup
Honestly I'd be trading Williams before Roberts. Can't trust Williams won't be pulled at 1/2 time again if anything flares up, and we don't have the best 18 safety net any more.

Early doors: Jackson or Grundy to Sweet; Cadman to Green.

I have a couple of boosts left and very tempted to go Jackson and Grundy out

Just seeing the possibilities this week & looking at the draw, Port play Adelaide Thurs night so could put Sweet on the ruck bench/make him emergency - if he scores well again then I can swing Livingstone up to R2 & trade Meek which really opens up trading options. Powell is a real conundrum with Phillips in the team & now Simpkin getting lots of CBA time. Very tempted to just trade him with the way Wilson is playing, has North & Hawks next 2 games so confident he can continue to pump out decent scores in the F6 spot.

Possible trades if Sweet fires again :-

Dale looks great, yes Richards will probably go back with Libba returning but in his current form/ round 15 bye also I find him hard to resist.

Dawson looks like he is back to normal service last 2 weeks, want to jump on before its too late.

Leaves me looking like this :-

Screen Shot 2024-04-29 at 3.38.07 pm.png

Bank: $44,000

Next week Campbell > Jones is on the cards & potentially Roberts> Petracca who would of bottomed out by then to finish the midfield off.

Thoughts/suggestions appreciated (y)

Your thoughts re Sweet is what I am doing, so that if he doesn't score well, then I'll put Jackson there.

Really nice team, like the Dawson pick a lot but I'm not super keen on Dale myself. Richards being played out of position feels like a bit of a red flag for me, his scoring with Richards back there is all over the place. If you're confident Richards stays up the ground, then go for it.

Getting a look at Sweet's score on Thursday night is my plan as well.

How's the rank looking? Well placed to finish strongly IMO.

Like it a lot Bunga. It is making me think of trading Powell to Dale as well. Or Fyfe?!?!

Any thoughts on the below?

Grundy / Cadman / Powell > Sweet / Jackson / Zerrett looks very tempting. Jackson at 500k I'm totally fine with, will provide great short-term insurance for Sweet and long-term ruck cover.

Williams out this week instead of Cadman would allow me to grab Dawson over Jackson and complete the midfield. I would then be targeting a sub 500k Jackson next week for sure. Plenty to ponder there, would love a Rowell and Trac will be nicely priced but it's tough to have them all. Current side for context;

Another hard week of trades. Powell I'm tempted to hold but its in the hands of clarko really whether he can come good. He was F4 last week in fantasy behind Heeney, Zorko and Flanders, think his score has been harsh lately in SC, North getting annialted every week means he needs to put up some numbers early. Think he is an ok mid, he ball watches a bit at stoppage so he can struggle at times but he has put up decent numbers. Shown the ability to tackle and spread for marks and clean on the inside. It was only a month or so ago he got coaches votes.

Clarko is trying things because the midfield is losing. Their def is a bigger problem than the midfield, everytime they conceed an I50 they get scored on unless Comben takes a contested mark. LDU has to stay and so does Wardlaw probably. Phillips is a lemon and the VFL numbers show that, and they threw Simpkin back in there when they decided in preseason it was time to move on from him in the midfield. Kerch is the future but is too slight and not ready for midfield. Sheezel in there makes sense I guess but they need him HB. Kerch uses it well back there but he gets too much junk, same with Fisher, Sheezel earns more of his touches. I think they need to back in Powell but I'm not Clarko.

No. The dumb move would be not getting him.

I have a similar conundrum with Meek who still has a lowish BE. Luckily we can have a look at Sweet at R3 this round and then decide what to do. If he stays at R3 then so be it for $158k.
Yeah, handy Port play first up.

I have Gawn and Xerri RK/FWD R3.

Trading Xerri to Sweet can allow me via DDP to bring in Green and Parish. But will leave me exposed when Soldo is back.?

Is sweet at R3 for cash generation a dumb move OR does he need to be onfield.?

Leaves me with this team for RD8 with 33k ITB and 24 trades.
Sweet is cheap enough that having him at R3 is perfectly fine as I see it. I think he’s more valuable at R2 for those who can swing it, but he should make much better cash than most 160k rookies we are offered.

Having Jackson and Livingstone gives you more flexibility when (if?) Soldo returns, as you can cover with your F7 for a week or two while your preferred target comes down in price, if desired.

Considering this with Xerri as well….
Frees up $400k in cash to spend across other lines….means I also keep Jackson as cover if needed…
Reasess Sweet at the byes come round 12..
only dilemma …is Sweet going to score at his average of 102 each week? Or was last week an outlier?

At what point do I look at getting Heeney in?

Currently the best fantasy player in the game, but is outrageously priced at $660k+.

Only had one "down" game of under 100, which on DT/SC ratio could've easily been another 115+ game.

This is starting to feel very ominous as you can't pay up for guys at these price ranges, but I feel like he will slowly be approaching Gawn level prices and I might have to fade him for the rest of the year if a serious, sub-par game doesn't come along.
In simple terms, I would say the time to get him may be when the discounted top line options (across lines) are exhausted.

Just read this from Dimma’s presser :-

Suns coach Damien Hardwick praised second-gamer Jake Rogers who scored 69/98. He said: “He was really exciting. He’s very clean with the ball in hand. His ability to find a target inside 50 is probably something we’ve lacked a little bit. He’s only going to get better as he gets fitter. His fitness level is not where it needs to be, but he’ll work his way through that and get better as the season goes.”

Hardwick said Sam Clohesy had a wrist concern but was “fine”, along with Bailey Humphrey who was subbed out after a head knock, passing his concussion test.

Dimma mentioned the other week that some of the rookies will need resting/ seems Rogers is a real candidate to be one of those which makes me very hesitant on him.
Good flag, thank you. I read it as Rogers being a heightened sub risk, but equally he could be rested.

Super tempting to finish the mids off! Thanks for the reply. Love the Merrett buy this week, he’s 100% coming in if I sell Grundy for Sweet. Def leaning this route now

I'll just take selection on face value for Powell, if he's named HFF again he's out of my team. He's just going to lose too much money and there's just too much uncertainty given the number of other mid options the Roos have to swing through there and how bad that situation is.

Many of us Kerch owners were too hasty to trade him but its a different situation even if the same club.

People with a few of these spot fires in the team like Powell, Steele etc should just prioritise what they think is the worst one and go from there.

The safe play is a few weeks at R3, but the thought of having a 100+ on the bench will be painful.

I think one of the factors playing into the Powell trade is how many rookies either haven’t maxed out or re-kickstarted their cash gen again. If teams don’t have an obvious path forward to upgrade, or can get 2 upgrades, I think it makes sense.
