From a Saints track watcher this am :-

RTB strolled out in the Burks, but wasn’t long until into business with the NBs.
  • Forwards out good 20 minutes early, Allison, Hayes and Lance in there, fair chunk spent on goal kicking in straight lines than another chunk at end of training. Mitchito slotted every one I saw.
  • Marshall came out heavily strapped, went back into the rooms after a few mins. No real intent to train from what I can gather, but not uncommon to take it lightly with big Ro.
  • RTB very interactive, teased a few fans asking who they’d like to come in, he mentioned Wood.
  • King, Wood, Clark, Henry etc all moving around quite well, Henry not far off at all, but looks like King and Wood a shoe in to play this weekend.
  • Enright pulled the full group together, seemed to have a heavy focus on transitions out of D50. Handed over to RTB at stages who was vocal.
  • Arie reluctant to pull the trigger, went LDL. He’s definitely not going to struggle with the physical side of things with AFL footy, seems like it’ll be the mental aspects.
  • Mattaes has a surprisingly big frame for a kid, think he’ll really fill out in years to come.
  • Lancey boi caught Windy cold going I50 who elected for an unsuccessful don’t argue. Windy proceeded to do some laps while RTB pulled them together.
  • Moose has some real work to do with goal kicking.
  • Butler doing some laps in rehab.
  • Overall, training much more planned out and structured than Rat and Cho eras. My first time at a RTB run session and really was taken back. Difference is very noticeable.
How did Jack Steele look today?

Didn’t see too much of him in terms of foot skills out on the park, but looked a little down walking off, one of the first to go back in.

Not sure what I want here... obviously best case is him named and fit, but if it's not that I think I'd rather he misses this week and has a chance to recover over named and losing cash!

Dawson, Laird, Rankine, Houston, Butters & Rozee can all take a back seat as all eyes will be on Sweet watch tonight.

Here's hoping that he doesn't leave a sour taste in our mouths as we head off to bed.
I think he does plenty of good things around the ground other than just Ruck Tapping, he's quite mobile and athletic.
6 tackles and 3 marks in his stats, not sure how many hitouts to advantage out of the 36 but it must've been a good anount.

Knee still heavily strapped today, this looks very similar to what happened last year with him. He is a warrior/tough guy that wants to keep playing regardless/ push through the pain barrier but we saw what happened last year with his scoring :(

Feels more and more like a trade. Monster BE and if he struggles this week he’ll require cash to turn him into someone useful. Tempted to tip in $40k and just make him Merrett or Butters.

He wasn't bad against the saints though, and Darcy is a young kid. I'd expect Lobb to come out but certainly wouldn't surprise me if Darcy gets a rest this week or next before a tougher run of fixtures.
Perhaps if the Dogs were cruising I'd agree but they need every win they can get and need their best 23 out there to give themselves the best chance each week. Darcy firmly in their best 23.

Hmmm

https://x.com/HoneyballAFL/status/1785872337998692363

"St Kilda coach Ross Lyon discussed the Saints team structure and the role of Rowan Marshall moving forward, backing in the big man to continue going solo in the ruck. He said:“Rowan is clearly our number one ruckman, and a lot of teams go with one ruck.”

Lyon noted that while veteran ruckman Tom Campbell may come into selection consideration at some point this season, it will only be when necessary. He said: “(Tom’s) pretty comfortable knowing we’ll call on him if needed, more than unseating Rowan or us playing two rucks. We know he can play good footy and he’s a great clubman. We’re really pleased to have him here”

Additionally, captain Jack Steele trained fully today as the Saints look set for a selection squeeze with Max King, Mason Wood and Jimmy Webster all pressing their availability."

Steele trained fully... all set to trade him then I read that :rolleyes:
That trackwatcher's comment about him being one of the first to leave training and not looking too positive still has me worried.

So torn on what to do with him. The decision really needs to be made this round too, before he drops a ton of cash.
