Maybe I'm the only one, but the structure of this game has really begun to suck because it doesn't align well enough with the rule changes the AFL have made over the last few years.
We are constantly hamstrung by Sunday extended benches and the fact that subs are listed 1 hour before the game. This means that you need to monitor the team lineups like a hawk on BOTH Saturday and Sunday. The worst part is, the extended bench (which is finalised to 5 players on Saturday), doesn't even mean that one of those 5 will be sub. ANYONE can be named sub, regardless if they are on the interchange or the field. So the player you thought was safe because they were named on field, no longer is.
Fyfe is a great example of this today. Out of nowhere, he was named sub. There were only two other games after the Freo/Richmond game, meaning that you either: (a) Suck it up and take his score which will now reset his price cycle negatively OR (b) Trade him to a very limited number of options (with no clear indicators what players are remotely F6 this year).
Not only is it already difficult playing around coaching RNG and who will be named sub, but we have eight bye rounds to play through for the entire year. For 1/3rd of the season, we are researching and picking players that align better with the byes because missing one game can be the difference between anywhere from 0-120 points or a league win.
Supercoach no longer have their KFC sponsorship, which means there is really no incentive to play for top 1011 anymore. They are still profiting off Supercoach Gold members and I fear they will do nothing to address the one rule that is absolutely killing the game (for me).
I realise it is more of an AFL issue and resolving it is very nuanced, but there has to be some system to save players constant tinkering and headaches for things largely out of their control. A scoring multiplier for subs or the ability to bring in a rookie as a one game replacement or something.
Just very frustrating.
