The problem with Bolton is he has a touch of the Jake Stingers about him. Need him on short contracts that are heavily incentive based otherwise he just doesn’t put enough heart in.
They’ll put up 1 first rounder and maybe some pick swaps, Richmond won’t take that, and if either WA club blink they’ll regret it in the long term I reckon.
Freo saw what happened to WC with poor list management decisions so if they have a competent department they shouldn’t be making the same mistake.
Paying overs for a small forward considering I gather a predominant mid role would be unlikely given their young midfield core and the reward doesn’t outweigh the risk when you can grab a similar type player (position) in the Pick 30 onwards range for far less risk. Do not watch much footy but from snippets over this and past seasons there seems to be a considerable difference between the Fremantle and Richmond style and thus prior achievements/form etc should not factor significantly into decision making. Turns 26 in December, so depends on when Fremantle expect him to retire and the risk associated with a significant injury in terms of time lost in the meantime (now and retirement) given the large investment.
Meeting the salary floor requirements may make sense for a trade but I usually don’t bother listening or reading much trade related material given salaries are not disclosed, salary cap, etc which makes the discussion pointless given we are not privy to those necessary details.
