So far I've traded Richards out for merrett. Sexton turns into rankine next week. Might have to wait and see if i can sideways to treloar at a later date.

Would be concerned about overpaying for a poor return on investment compared to what you may get from other options under $500,000 and whether the saving may come in handy later on if an injury occurs in another position for an upgrade. I purchased at RD6 and sold at the injury but at his price range and the hamstring having one of the highest recurrence rates, then I would be tempering expectations.

Charlie Curnow is still very good value even after last nights game…can get him under $500k and has a decent run against teams he has a strong history of scores against…

I wanted to trade Sexton to Rankine next week as well, but have no funds to do this. Have Dowling, Kreuger, etc who are on the bubble, but need the cash now. May be forced to sideways a premium slightly downwards to fund this.

Charlie Curnow is still very good value even after last nights game…can get him under $500k and has a decent run against teams he has a strong history of scores against…

May have to be my alternative if I can't fund Rankine to complete my side.

Thinking about reversing my Caldwell & Fyfe trade.
Any thoughts? Fyfe has a low BE and erratic scoring so could pull an 80 or upwards. Costs me a trade and also means I need to go early on a rookie sight unseen.
Thinking I just keep the trade and have a look over the next couple of weeks to maybe get to Rankine.

Just heard on the Phantom’s Lair podcast (first time listener) that Rankine reached for his hamstring a couple of times last game. The speaker was bullish on him, pointing to TOG and scoring upside once he is 100% right, but it probably increases his risk profile somewhat.

I was thinking of trading Draper (Free) to Worner (Free) as he is on the bubble this week. This would enable me to upgrade Reid to Merrett.
However, I am concerned that Worner will be the sub and not sure about his job security long term.
I am also struggling to find any other rookies that are playing who don't have the bye this week.

Should I proceed with the trades this week or wait until next week and hope that Merrett is still affordable.

Hard to advise on the best course of action without seeing the full picture (trades left, boosts left, remaining salary, side prior to trades, overall or league intention etc) otherwise it is easy to frame a preferred scenario without considering others.

Additional advice would be to find the trades thread for whichever round you are after via the homepage or the SuperCoach forum rather than creating a new thread for every post.

Do the trades. Use a boost to get two upgrades if you can.

Look at the trade survey at the top of this thread to get an idea how many trades most coaches on here expect to have after this week. 6 - 8 for the majority with less than 6 for more aggressive players. Even using a boost you’ll still have 11.

Is there any love for Ridley?

I'm in. Draw is great. I do love defenders that have an all round game for SC which Ridley has. I also don't mind Redman as an option given the Don's draw, he has a huge ceiling if you look at his history, albeit without Ridley's superb intercept game. I would have taken Redman if he were $60 K or so cheaper even with the recent injury thing. McGrath isn't bad either IMO for SC as one of these Bombers defenders will probably pop on the run home.

I'm pretty sure that was from a knee into the back of Rankine's leg or something in a contest. I remember watching it and thinking: "that'd hurt". Sure enough he was rubbing it about 30 seconds later. So I don't think it was related to his recent hamstring strain.

That could be right. I think the comment was that they noticed it a couple of times after Rankine took a couple of big kicks, but that could have been a coincidence or may still be due to the issue you spotted.

Always wary of bringing a player in after they have injured their hamstring as those stats above show.

After watching how good Curnow looked, roaming all over the fwd line I think I will be going him over Rankine next week especially with Carlton’s draw - he looks primed to finish the year very well.

Here is my team

Looks okay to me, but I would be wary of going to 3 or 4 trades left so early unless you’re really happy with your cover. Rozee is high quality cover but not DPP unfortunately.
