wonder if he says bye bye after the BGT (especially if they don't make the WTC)

just looking back at last season ( v PAK , WI & NZ)

Marsh 500 Runs @ 45.45 , 0 x 100 , 5 x 50
Khawaja 447 Runs @ 34.38 0 x 100 , 2 x 50
Smith 365 Runs @ 33.18 , 0 x 100 , 2 x 50
Carey 336 Runs @ 33.60 , 0 x 100 , 3 x 50
Labuschagne 325 Runs @ 27.08 , 0 x 100 , 4 x 50
Green (injured) 302 Runs @ 50.33 , 1 x 100 . 0 x 50
Warner (retired) 299 Runs @ 49.83 , 1 x 100 , 1 x 50
Head 269 Runs @ 22.42 , 1 x 100 , 0 x 50

I know McDonald & co love referring it as a collective , but some of these boys need early big runs (especially if others are knocking on the door) or questions might (should) be starting to be asked

The bowlers might be papering over some cracks

Labuschagne is averaging 33.65 over the last 2 years (35 Innings) 1 x 100 , 7 x 50

Hopefully McSweeney can go on to make a big score here - great start to the summer by him & I think he has the technique to succeed at the next level. Takes his time to get into his innings/ no big rash strokes, just builds nicely. He is my preferred choice, Harris is just too loose/Bancroft out of form/ too early for Konstas - maybe when Khawaja retires it will be the right time for him.

McSweeney over the last 2 years just has the look of a test batsman to me, knows his game/ looks an organised player.

Is it just me or is there a little bit of Marnus about him?

In the 14 innings he's played since replacing Daniel Drew as SA's first-drop a year ago, on eight occasions McSweeney's gone to the wicket with less than 10 runs on the board.

During that period the right-hander has scored almost 600 runs at an average of 45.92 (including two centuries and four 50s) with his recent Sheffield Shield returns of 55, 127no, 37 and 72 underscoring his status as one of the nation's in-form top-order batters.

Apparently there's an ODI on Sunday... expect a bumper crowd with all the promotional effort they have gone too!
