Bit early but some guys I'm interested in for now value wise

Ponga @ 820k, still undervalued
Ipap @ 610k at the riff
Hosking @ 530k with no Byes till r15
Reynolds @ 520k
Metcalf @ 510k goalkicking?
Iongi @ bottom dollar probable starter at 1 for Parra
Johnston @ 450k good opening couple of games, no early Bye
Collins @ 440k underpriced but ploddish
Whyte @ 390k playing lock with May gone, Radley at 2RF and Watson at 9 with cheese also gone with a acl. Might get big mins
Tass @ 350k borderline cheapie?
Mamouzelos @ 320k hooker number 2?
Nawaqanitawase/Toia cheapies
Halves cheapies potentially Gordon, Dodd and whoever fills in at the chooks

Fullback is going to be an interesting position. Normally would go two guns but Longi might be the best cheapie for the season. I was tempted to go the Kini route but can't go there now with the R1 bye.

I really wanted Ponga as well but a R4 bye isn't ideal but his fixtures are really nice.
Turbo is Turbo.
Drinkwater could potentially be goalkicking so could be some value there.
Latrell is supposedly the fittest he's ever been, one to keep an eye on.

Maybe we will get the flex spot like bbl so we could potentially take three.

Flex would be so good for stashing cheapie fullbacks like Longi.

Ponga - early bye hurts, but good early draw (Tigers twice and Titans twice in first 10 rounds). Good origin period draw, but does he play SOO off the bench?
Ipap - assuming he starts, going to be very popular (deservedly so). Be nice if he's on Cleary's side of the field.
Hosking - similar to Ipap, as long as he gets the start, he'll be popular to start.
Reynolds - not sure I want to use a halfback slot on an awkwardly priced 34 year old
Metcalf - if he picks up the goal kicking, becomes more interesting
Iongi - I imagine he's fullback only which (unless there are changes) kinda kills him.
Johnston - I don't think I could go near him coming back from his injury. Always been a guy that needs to score trys to be relevant.
Collins - don't think there's much upside
Whyte - depends on minutes. Always a possibility that Watson ends up at 13 (which will make him look pretty attractive)
Tass - not too confident on his upside (Dragons may struggle to score points) but hard to go past unless there are plenty of other cheapie optons
Mamouzelos - hopefully gets 80 mins and we can lock him in

Agree with most of your points but just want to reiterate that the guys I've listed provide some value early on even though they might not be the best players in that position.

Reynolds had a injury affected season averaging 51.2 which is quite low considering he averaged 65.2 in 2023 and 60.5 in 2022. With Cleary racing the clock to be fit for round 1, Hughes having a Bye round 2, Hynes no longer being a must have with Trindall around and S Walker out with an ACL, Moses ($660,000) & DCE ($680,000) seem like the best starting options around. A Reynolds priced around 520k with 7-10 points of value and a good early draw doesn't seem like the worst option to take a punt on.

I also expect Iongi to be FLB only, will be interesting to see if people go with one gun fullback and try to load up more at CTW or 2RF. Pre-season trials will give us a better idea but if he's averaging 60s, he'll definitely be in my team to start.

Bunnies were shocking last year and it reflected on their SC scoring but with Bennett back and a lean Latrell who's been training the house down, I think the outside backs will feast facing the Phins, Saints & Sharkies in their first 3. Johnston ($460,000) and Munro ($400,000) are gonna be the cheapest way into their backline.

Tass (a Souths player btw) was interesting at that price but looking at it now, I don't think he'll make their starting back 5 with Latrell, AJ, Wighton, Graham and Munro in there.

Totally agree and the reality of it is, we may be forced to start with less than ideal options depending on the quality of cheapies avilable.

Sorry I saw Tass and my mind went to Ilias!

SC experience has Graham coming in at the random price of 575k. Only back I have penned in for now is Munroe. Bird is one i will look closely at in trials if he gets duals. Hopefully we get multiple cheapies from the Cowboys with Purdue and Derby although I thought Derby's defence was pretty diabolical in the internationals. Would like C McLean but 530k is a pretty penny to pay for a relative rookie even if it is at the Panthers. Toia and Tamale seem like the other stand out current potential cheapies for round 1 so far.

SC usually drops players prices by 15-20% if they've missed the previous season or played less than 3 games so he's price is probably around that.
Bird is interesting at around 400k if he plays big mins at lock but he's probably too injury prone for me and Pole is still around.
Was thinking Cowboys would line up with 1. Drinkwater 2. Purdue 3. Chester/Vailea 4. Laybutt 5. Taulagi. Do you see Derby making the starting 5 and who do you reckon drops out?

Sometimes I think they are a little to strict with position changes. Taking FRF from Cotter makes him go from a potential pick to a no go. I think the game is poorer for that.

Anyway flex has been added, I assume now most will go two gun fullbacks and Longi to start the season.

Yeah it would almost be better if, instead of FRF and 2RF, they went with middle forward / edge forwards.

Cheapie fullback? What about 3 gun fullbacks!

I know we were all complaining about not being able to fit in Longi because he was FLB only but now with the Flex in there, I’m even less keen on him😂. 3 gun fullbacks here we go

If the Flex allows you to drop off the lowest score in your 18, does that mean you can loop and then potentially lose your AE as the lowest score?

NRL SC Team Picker now available for those with SC Plus subscriptions.

Was going through the prices and there's quite a few potential cheapies available and players at value prices. Feels like you can load up on more guns early. Just an quick and early draft with some hopefuls and value options. Enough in the bank to upgrade positions as well.

Titans have the round 1 bye, so they'll be difficult to start with.

I think at that price you’ve got to start with Tino in there and Gordon is potentially the goal kicker so it’s easy enough to stash them for round 1. Easy switch down with Horse/Whyte in 2RF for cover
