Personally think he just needs to be given a good crack at it. Opening is never an easy gig, and I assume the pitch has a little in it after yesterday’s rain.
We get caught up a bit in Australia’s batting not being up to standard, but we also are not used to seeing other team’s bowling attacks on top of us. India’s attack are well drilled and only went away from their task for 1-2 sessions last test which cost them the game.
England had the bowling attack for a while there where they could dominate a session or two and bowl teams out quickly. The difference being is that their grounds are a bit more conducive to runscoring so we get away with it a little more.
In short, gotta give some credit to the opposition when they’re playing well. It’s not always the batsmen not being good enough.

Big fan of his so hopefully he can succeed at this level , I gather Green will eventually be # 4 when Smudge retires
I guess with the selectors seemingly reluctant to pick Bancroft and Harris again (maybe even Renshaw) they could be digging themselves a hole especially when the end is near for Khawaja.
Do they get Konstas into the Squad sooner or later or go a make shift opener (again) in Sri Lanka ?
My judgement of OS bowlers is way off , always thought Akash bowled left arm 😅 so no idea who I have him mixed up with

I have seen concerns about Merlo crowding out Harper as well (this game or next).
Merlo has a pretty good list A record, but his domestic T20 record is very poor:

High score of 15
Aggregate of 54 runs
Average of 6
Strike rate of under a run a ball
Bowled in 4 innings
0 wickets taken
Economy rate of 8.4
I can’t see any reason why he would be selected … but equally it’s hard to see why he would even be in the squad, based on those numbers.
Maybe they think he can replicate his list A performances (average or 24 with the bat, nearly a wicket per game).
As bad as Harper was last season, and as frustrating as he can be to own, his numbers before last season were pretty good.

$ 58,5 DPP could be a handy link with Curran , Stoinis , Webster moving forward.

Too many fancy shots getting a quick 20-30 but then got out.
Stay still at the crease , bat sensible and the outcome might be different.
Don't need to try these scoops , flicks etc etc

Disclaimer : if he is in the starting XI tonight I will pick him and see what happens

Final iteration of my team prior to team announcements tonight.
24K left in the bank which should be enough to help cover any last minute changes etc.
9 DGR players with a 4/5 Stars/Renegades split. Unfortunately, there doesn’t seem to be a great deal of value in the stars squad, whereas I feel like I could’ve comfortably picked another 2-3 Renegades that represent good value.
Likely moves for next round:
Seifert > Inglis
Khan > Richardson
O’Neill > Allen (Strikers)
Ideally I would’ve loved to fit one or both of Richardson & Behrendorff in my team but think Connolly represents the best value given his role.
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!

I’m hoping we get some clarity on whether or not he’ll bowl but at this stage, I think it’s too much of a risk to leave him out.
His the type of player who can tear games apart so even if he doesn’t have a great role tomorrow, he could more than easily make up for it in his second game of the round.
For what it’s worth, I think Sutherland bowls 1-2 overs tomorrow but think there’s every chance he bowls 2-3 in their final game of the round.
Sutherland is the one who I’m tempted to move on for any of Behrendorff, Richardson or Allen (Scorchers) but all three of them could have a stinker anyways so at this stage, I’ll back in Sutherland over the two games.

True, but I've got them close enough where that extra piece of info is enough to tip the scales.
I'm also not as bullish on Perth as most of the forum, at least for tonight - lots of injury concerns and guys potentially coming in without match fitness. Top three might be all their internationals too and we know how that can go first up...
