And just to clarify, I know there's so many posts and an answer but...

Pretending we had flex last season. I was a Gawn holder with Oliver at M9. When gawn got injured I had a donut one week. With flex if I then shifted Oliver to flex he would effectively cover Gawn? I simply wouldn't have a 23rd player to try maximise a score?
I don't think you need to move Oliver to the flex spot as the scoring scenario is the same if he was M9 or flex. Scoring is best 22 so whether you switch the flex (assuming your flex is a mid and is going to M9) and Oliver around or not Gawn still isn't playing and you have still only have 22 players scoring on field.

But if Oliver is M9 he can only cover a Mid as an E. So his score wouldn't provide any benefit in o***etting a Ruck in Gawn being out. He would need to be part of the onfield 23 to be a benefit there.

I'm using a real life scenario where Gawn was out, and so was My R3 Kreuger. I chose to eat a donut and field 21 players.

With this I had 8 scoring MIDS and Clarry as the Mid EMG.

So I would have thought I'd need a scoring player in the flex to cover the 0 coming from the ruck line. In order to get Clarrys score on field I wouldn't just be able to have him as a mid emg?

So that's how I'm taking it. We can use the flex to cover a ruck donut as that's where we are most vulnerable. But don't need an actual ruck to do so.

Yes. You'll be taking the 22 other scores while others with 23 players get to drop their worst score. It softens the blow of a donut.

I am making an early New Years resolution to stop posting about flex. You are correct.

Could a no Expensive fwd line work as lots have to go well otherwise you get behind harder catch up if they hardly strike rate to success maybe.
Can we start 13 premo and 4 mid priced and rest rookies to begin with
Until rookies, and rookie priced players, reveal themselves over preseason, it's hard to say what will or won't be viable strategies. If the trend continues from last year, the forward line looks to be the place to go cheap/mid price until the 2025 forward premos reveal themselves.

I thought it would be that the C is always doubled first. If the doubled score is the 23rd score, then it would drop out. I guess we won’t know until we get some formal guidance, but that would be my uneducated guess
This is how it has worked in the past for bye rounds, I unfortunately copped a 20 odd captain score during a bye round once, it doubled to 40~ and was included in my B18 ahead of a 30 from a rookie.

Yes and JHF maybe but we have to wait and see how he goes.
