What’s the consensus on Short? I get its team dependant and all that. But still torn on whether to get him or spread the cash

If you have a captaincy option for both the Strikers and Scorchers then I think you’re covered. Weigh up the potential points spread you could have with a Short-less team and then with him and decide whether it’s worth it.

I know a few coaches who will back Overton at the expense of Short because their structures have dictated that they may need to run without him.

Personally, I should be able to get him in without needing to boost, so I’ll be getting him in.

Is it fair to say Adelaide Oval is pretty spin friendly but the Gabba not so much?
Just looking to the next round and where Lloyd Pope may fit in. Yes he had an atrocious last over but he was kind of thrown under the bus there and often we do see someone bounce back ballistically next game.
So do we reckon L Pope will probably play both DGR rounds or more likely just Adelaide Oval and be replaced by pace for Gabba? Thanks.

Do the Strikers already know something, Haskett in for Doggett...
Strikers successfully play both spinners for a chunk of last year and I can't see that changing any time soon.

I'd expect them both to play both games of the double.

My biggest concern re Short was his role with Allen in the team and Allen taking his overs (which looked like was going to happen in their first game). With Allen out of the picture, his stocks have gone up.

The question probably is do you get him in early for his doubles, or rely on depth, build your bank and get him in for the single game weeks at the end.

I originally wasn’t too keen on him at the price point, but not having to get Maxwell round 1 has made it a lot easier to manipulate the team value around to afford it.

Wouldn’t it be good having Short, Overton and Maxwell without trading them back and forth? problem is also getting all the other all rounders in the side too!
In a ideal world yes you would start , hold and keep.

On starting prices they cost $ 759,300.00

Leaves $ 1,240,700.00 for the remaining 14 players.

Factor in the likes of Webster , Behrendorff , Curran , Seifert all over $ 150k+

💰 quickly runs out.

People will already be thinking of Bartlett (price will increase) and Hosein for DGR 3.

Walter will be dropping

Play the fixtures it's all about balancing the books each round , seeing who you want and can afford and who you need to trade out to make it happen

Totally agree. It is why I think those without Short are unlikely to buy him for round 2 either.

Everyone will setup differently.

Once Maxwell was out people would have adjusted.

Plenty of starting value and cheapies playing.

Those that took Connolly and Richardson E scores by $ 39,5 k players may have banked enough money.

Webster (or Sutherland) with Bank to Short will be relatively easy to achieve for some.

Depends who else they started and targeting for Round 2 eg Behrendorff and Overton.

To me Short comes down to if people think he can maintain his batting from the past 2 seasons , any bowling points are a bonus.

People may want him only for DGR 2 & 4 in any case.

Just needed to know whether to start him or wait until Round 2 to bring him in or wait until Round 4.

And work out how and then adjust if need be.
