Set up pretty well with 8 DGR players next round - including Short & Overton - without using my boost. The final 3 will come from Seifert/Peirson, Curran, Stoinis & will loop Bazley with Zampa

Inglis coming back might make me boost and go Seifert to him. Then id have 9 (8 + Bazley) plus Stoinis/Curran/Zampa. No matter how you look at it, im setup well.

Of course, round 3 will be affected slightly by the amount of doubles next round. Im hoping that i can keep Short and still get Maxwell but it will be tough.

Are we going to know if he gets 2 games before he plays the first game?
Let's read the tea leaves

Test starts 26
Xmas Day 25
Main Training 24
Optional Training 23
Arrive in Melbourne 22 most likely

Should get the Test Squad tomorrow so hopefully they advise what games the non-playing Test players of the Squad are playing.

My guess is they might be allowed to play 20 & 21.

Advantageous that the Scorchers second game (23rd) of the double is in Melbourne , so hopefully that could work in Inglis favour

Again though aside from being back up to Carey , why is Inglis even their ?

Khawaja , Labuschagne , McSweeney should all be on notice so surely it would make sense if Konstas (or Patterson) was the spare bat.

Throw Inglis in at a spot he is in unfamiliar with , sounds like a recurring theme.

If Head misses , slide McSweeney to 5 and let Konstas open.

For those contemplating Short, what would you need as a minimum from him in game 1 to lock in his VC score? It seems like VC upside is a huge selling point I'm curious to see what the over/under is for whether you back him in for game 2 or take a Scorcher C instead.
For me it depends on his role, and who the preferred alternative is as captain.

I would think the answer likely comes out in the region of 30 though.

If you’re going to pay nearly 300k for him with a big BE, presumably you think he’s in a good role and will score well in it … so the projected game 3 score is likely high.

Jhye potentially being rotated may reduce the threshold. Would be a big call to captain Connolly, although he may be the best option in some scenarios!

Tough one. For me the answer partly revolves around how many overs he bowls. If he is bowling 3 overs and looks like keeping that 3rd spinner role then id probably be happy to back him in for the 2nd game meaning id likely take a lower VC score than i would if he barely bowls.

So if he bowls 3 overs, id take maybe 40+. If he doesnt look like he is bowling himself much in that first game, he becomes more risky for the 2nd game so id need him to score 60+ i reckon. What im saying makes sense to me but its also not lost on me that it is counterintuitive... because if he is bowling say 3 overs in the first game and only scores <40 then you could say it doesnt bode well for his 2nd game. Whereas, if he is batting well but barely bowling, and he scores 40+ then you could claim that bodes well for the 2nd game because he is in batting form.

Hope that makes sense. If i had to give a single number, it would be 50. I would hope that, no matter what he scores in the first game, that he is bowling 2-3 overs. If not, its much harder to justify taking his score.
Very thought out, love it!

Yeah the lack of clear Scorcher C option is definitely swaying me a little on Short. Few guys I’d be happy to VC but the straight C would make me nervous..

What’s the consensus on Short? I get its team dependant and all that. But still torn on whether to get him or spread the cash
Way up funds but I will likely look at ways to bring him in, whole reason I was taking him on was Fabian Allen and hes no longer there, Pope also bowled rubbish and could easily be left out for Doggett, think the scenario has changed and the hurt factor is significantly increased.
