Would this still be worthwhile, even though Roughie only copped one week?

In normal circumstances, you wouldn't trade for a 1 week suspension, but the bye rounds complicates things.

If I keep Roughie, I'll have just the bare 18 playing rd 10 (one of them Impey), even after 3 trades.

If I trade, I not only avoid Impey on the ground in rd 10, but I get an extra player on-field this week.

Petrie and $70k is tempting. Dixon is another I've contemplated.

I've probably just talked myself out of it, but interested in your thoughts nonetheless.
To be honest, I'm not sure if it is worthwhile now. It depends if I look like getting 18 on the ground in round 10. Which is a little tough to decide right now. If i look like having 18, I will probably take Petrie, as it gives me a player up my sleeve. I don't like Dixon. He misses games too often.

Hi Rowsus,

I'm just going for a league title and I'm looking to add 2 more forwards to my side.

Currently I'm looking at Riewoldt sub $400 k, Roughie, Wingard and the Hoff.

Riewoldt sub $400 k is a definite lock. My original plan of Roughead has somewhat been thrown out with his suspension and the fact the Hawks play Freo / Geelong / Pies in the last 3 games.

Which means Wingard is probably the default choice although I'm not sold on a 3rd year player averaging 100.

So that leaves The Hoff. Was last year just a spike in scoring that is unlikely to be maintained? He has always been inconsistent and is the current price drop just the The Hoff been The Hoff?

Love to know your thoughts.

I think Row will probably ask you to stay off the Hoff because he is really inconsistent.
Unless you can loop him every week, you would be better off getting Roughy or Wingard.

Well the other option is T Cloke.

Currently looking at Zorko, Martin, Dangerfield, Riewoldt, then 2 of Franklin, Petrie, xxx.

Wingard would probably be the most stable option and then I could loophole Franklin / Petrie each week. Having to pick 2 of Franklin, Petrie and Cloke / Westhoff could become probamatic espically with Collingwood having so many late games in the back half of the year.

Hey Rowsus, how many trades do you feel would be reasonable to have after the byes are up? I'll be sitting on 15 likely, with the intention to do two more the week after.

Also, would a combination of Acres/Hallahan as M8 be reasonable for around a 3 week period whilst I allow them and two other rookies to appreciate before I upgrade? Im offloading Polec and Aish this week so having one of them fill that gap isn't going to happen.

Thanks mate.

Appreciate all your work Rowsus.

Thoughts on Dion Prestia as a POD?

4th year player, increased his average thus far, every year - currently averaging 105.

Priced at 497k, rd 8 bye out of the way, can you see him going 105-110 from here?

Thanks in advance.

Hey Rowscus
Just working out Goddards future price rises and they seem to steep. I used footywire breakeven of 41 to find his upcoming price.

465600+(120-41)*440 = 500,360 (score 120 vs swans)
465600+(100-41)*440= 491,560 (score 100 vs swans)

Is that correct?
Thanks in advance
All looks riight to me.

Hi baz,
my first thought is, if you are waiting for NRoo to be sub $400k, you will be waiting a looooong time. I think he will bottom out around $415-$420k.
Hoping/expecting too many Fwds will average 100+ is a bit unrealistic. Setting your goal for 95-100 for most of them is a better goal. I think Hoff was a bit of a spike last season, and I have him pegged for around 88-90 this season. To achieve that he will need to average around 93 from here, which is a good return, given his price.
Maybe upgrade elsewhere, and come back to Roughie later, if you are unhappy with the other options available.
Good luck :)

Hi Rowsus

I was just wondering what you thoughts would be on trading in either Bartel or Swallow? I brought in Hibberd over Burgoyne last week for Mitchell due to the fact that Essendon have less chance of resting players than Hawthorn. Do you see this happening with Bartel too?

Last question, would you recommend Robbie Gray come in, or Luke Parker or should i just keep Cyril Boy Rioli?

Hey Rowsus,

Had a good jump this week from 3270 to 447 on the back of a 1966 this week.
Only 19 trades but looking at upgrading Polec this week. Also have Jaensch who should be back next week along with Laidler who will now start to drop in price.
With no obvious rookie downgrade options this week and $287K to spend, I was thinking of the one trade only of Polec to Pendles.
Do you think this is the right move? Or should I look at trading Jaensch aswell and/or Polec for Swan instead? Would like to keep the scores going if I could I guess.

B: McVeigh, Hibberd, Swallow, Langdon, Langford, Laidler (K.SIMPSON, JAENSCH)
M: Ablett, Beams, Fyfe, Tyson, Taylor, Crouch, POLEC, LIBBA (MURPHY, BUCKLEY)
R: Sandi, MINSON (Thurlow, Currie)
F: Danger, Zorko, Pav, Martin, JHK, Lloyd (Ambrose, HIGGINS)

Hey Rowsus, after trading Ablett out I have 780k to play with, looking at upgrading/downgrading Higgins, McDonald and Polec.

I have Beams so far and bringing in both Swan and Pendlebury will leave me with 3 pies and making it more difficult to choose a C/VC due to all three playing at the same time. Right now Harry Taylors my locked in trade, but I'm not sure if Acres is a must have, and if bringing in both Swan and pendles is a good idea. What are your thoughts? cheers mate

Rowsus have you decided if you are going to part with 740k to get Ablett in? I'm still 50/50. It's just a hell of a lot of money and I can see him finally getting that lowish score the week we swallow our pride and get him in!

At this stage I have gone the other way, and won't get Ablett this week. That could, of course, change again!

Hey camo,
It depends on what your season goal is. High finish, and 15 maybe too many, unless you have traded exceptionally well. If you are concentrating on a League Victory, it's a good number to have. Having Acres/Hallahan at M8 is perfectly acceptable in the short term. We usually have to make sacrifices/compromises to build our team, and that looks like being yours.
Good luck :)

Hi white,
Refer to this weeks Trade Tables thread for Bartel v Swallow, I'd prefer Bartel. Unless Bartel picks up a niggle, I don't think they'll rest him.
If forced to choose between Gray, Parker or holding Rioli, I'd pick them in that same order. Gray first, then Parker, then hold Rioli.
Good luck :)

Thanks for the kind words krk.
No doubt Prestia is a quality player, and he showed the ability to score consistently high between rounds 7 and 14 last season, when he averaged near 113. I think he can score in that 105-110 range for the rest of the season, but it is more likely to be closer to 105 than 110.

Hey Slammer,
congratulations, that's an extraordinary jump!
"only 19 trades"?! Let me tell you, there probably aren't too many teams in the top 500 that have 19 trades, AND $287k in the bank! Great job, well done. There is only one thing to do from here, attack, attack attack! Have a crack, you are well placed to give yourself a run at the big prize, but that means being aggressive. You might have to risk going Laidler to Tippett to get a little more cash. This will enable you to do something like: Polec/Langford to Swan/Bartel. Either way, I think you need to be aggressive, and take advantage of your good position. That aggression can mean trading out Rookies a week or two early.
Good luck! :)

Hey dyii,
the move to trade Ablett out is acceptable, but you need to be aggressive with the Money, or it is a wasted move. Don't worry about having all 3 of Pendles, Swan and Beams. All 3 will likely feature high up in the end of season point scoring tables. Yes, it makes the Captain choice a Little trickier, but that's ok. Acres is far from a must have. His 91 subbed score was very hollow (not supported by his stats), and he looks more like a 60-65 point player than a 90-95 point player. I like your Harry choice!
Good luck :)
