Rogers and Zampa okay with 1 wicket each, but the junk runs from the former were very handy. Sutherland also with 1, not taking the VC obviously. Not the way I expected Bethell to get out . A little disappointed he didn’t get a bowl on that pitch, think the Gades missed a trick there.

None of my Gades bowlers really nailed it, but none of them really flopped either. A big second score from Zampa or Richo would be nice to get some more cash gen going.

Captain on Overton or Short will be the big decision. Unsure which way I’ll go.

it seems like everyone is going for Overton captain this week...dont have the stats, just from what i've observed.

The poll at the top of this topic has Overton on 30, Short on 31. I'd expect Short will be the more popular pick overall (boosted by ghost ship numbers).

Hehe - hopefully great minds think alike! A solid start.

Unless the stats indicate I should waver based on the toss result, I plan to back in Overton. I think it’s reasonable to argue that both his role and his form are better. I can certainly see the appeal in going for Short though.

Last round I needed to trade in a Renegade donut and could have picked any of the Renegades bat in the 100k range and literally picked the worst one in Bethell. What a great POD that turned out to be... O'Neill burnt me in round 1 for not having him so of course he decided to burn me for trading him in this round. Chief also burned me in round 1 for not having him and ofc he also decided to spud it up with the bat. Renegades players mimicking the Stars players with Rogers being the main exception as he was the only one I'd had who did well. Planned for 10 DGR this round and it's not looking great so far. Hoping my 5 strikers tomorrow can be a lot better than these Gades spuds tonight.

Found a different avenue of trades that allowed me to bring in all of Short, Sutherland and Bethell. Was very confident they’d give him a bowl on that deck, especially for some of Fergus’s overs but wasn’t to be. I even made him my VC I was that confident.

4 Strikers tomorrow so hopefully a bit of a bounce back from tonight.

Updated Walter/Edwards to Stoinis. Can trade Renshaw instead but involves going O’Neil over Rogers and would prefer Rogers.

Can update Edwards to Stoinis depending on further news. Ideally avoid playing Bazley this round as I have no confidence as to what he will dish up and prefer to field a Kerr/Tye/etc on a single.

Pretty unlikely I’d say. Was injured through the start of the season and bowled for the first, and only, time in a game on December 14. Not really sure why they picked him up to be honest, especially with Doggett and Buckingham in the reserves. Although to be fair, Doggett was with the Test squad at the time of the signing.

I've always thought a big left quick is good for T20 variety.

I guess you never know. They had David Payne as an international last season as a left arm seamer. Don't even have a left arm spinner either. D’Arcy Short they seem reluctant to use and Fabian Allen is injured.

Perth have Connolly and Jennings (if picked) as left hand bats in the top order and Finn Allen was in all sorts facing Spencer Johnson swinging it back into him the other day.

Could split up the spin twins and drop Boyce. Have the 2 Short’s if desperate for another spin option. Scott doesn’t really add much difference to an attack with Thornton and Overton. Bazley may as well not be there. 214 hit against them last outing may mean a change is necessary. Haven’t seen enough of Haskett in the T20 format to know how good his death bowling skills are. Thornton and Scott not overly great in that area.

Strikers need to develop a few and should play Scott + Buckingham and Haskett.

Sams save off Rogers hit off the last ball cost Rogers 20 points (5 runs + 15 ER bonus) is probably the difference to not lock Rogers VC score in.

I'm in the exact same position and was about to pose that question. I think you are right - not worth it.
