Just going through the process of looking for value with a couple of C/VC options.
I've made some considerations around the byes, particularly the early ones where I think I can get away with missing one or two players, round 3 is obviously the most awkward where I have Mills, Smith and Holmes (flex) missing and is also the reason why I'm not starting Daicos, he'll be in eventually along with Sheezel, just hoping they don't hurt too much in the meantime.
The obvious value is in the forwards and I, along with the majority, will be starting Fab 4. Lynch's price is just too low to ignore, all track reports are indicating a trouble free preseason (so far) his durability is a concern and he'll be managed throughout the season missing games here or there so I'll be treating him like any other rookie. Fading JHF until after his bye, I don't think he'll hurt too much from a price perspective but if his ownership looks too high then might just have to have him. JHF might be a better proposition than Holmes in the Flex position.
I reckon I'll take punt on Rivers if his transition to a full time mid continues and I can't see a reason why it wont considering McVee can hold down the HB position along with the addition of Xavier Lindsay, I'd think his average would be 100+ and DPP status doesn't hurt either. There's a couple of others around that price point, Short and McKercher, but I have doubts about their production and roles, Short should be playing off HB but his defensive efforts over the last couple of years have dropped right off and there's a few blokes that could fill the HB position like Ralphsmith, Trezise, Smith & Brown. McKercher looks like playing higher up the ground, probably on the wing, so will be missing the kickouts and cheap possessions.
Mills and Peatling could both well be priced 25-30 pts under, I'm planning on Peatling being one of my final upgrades during the byes and effectively having a position on field that won't have a bye. Lynch could well be in the same boat.
I see Travaglia, Lindsay, Smillie, Tauru, Curtain and Hewett as being the most productive of the rookies. Draper, Lalor, Lombard look like they'll debut early but predominately forward. Not sure about Jagga, he's very slight and might need to bulk up a bit before being exposed, although he did perform well against the bigger bodies in the Magoos. Sims is just sitting there waiting for Boyd. There's about $70k sitting ITB for rookie adjustments and I think that I've allocated enough capital on them to not have to pull the team apart to grab one that I've missed.
