I think Paton is a very decent chance.
I expect Lloyd is on the wing as he finished last year, Mitchell in his spot in the GWS game.
That leaves two spots for Paton, Wicks and Cunningham. Which will raise the question of what Cox prioritises in those defenders. All 3 have great speed and speed and discipline are basically Cunningham's selling points, he also absolutely had kompromat on Horse. Paton is the only one of the 3 that can kick and that's a massive edge. Wicks has the most size and aerial skills and given that the group is undersized already and that both Florent and Roberts also lack size, I think that's actually going to be a big advantage for him.
I'd personally be picking Paton first as the kicking is such an asset, having only Melican as a genuine non-user in defense would be a weapon itself. I'd like to see Wicks given the chance next, we know what Cunningham is, let Wicks prove if he can be more and if he can't, then go back to the limited lock down option.
Hard to read Cox though and I can make a case that none of the 3 play, 1 of the 3 or even all 3 play, albeit I think all 3 is by far the least likely to happen.
I must preface all this with the fact that I could never understand why Saints didn't play Paton either so maybe I just rate him irrationally high

Lloyd on a wing certainly increases Paton’s chances, especially while Cunningham is injured.
I assumed that Gulden and McInerney would be the main wingers.
A timeline on the Cunningham injury would be helpful as it’s reasonably clear that he’s highly rated internally and would expect he gets the nod over Paton once fit.
Yeah there's a lot of moving parts, we've got quite a few options in those roles. I've put Roberts ahead of the others but even he's in that mix if he plays poorly. Florent I think is picked ahead of them but I'm not convinced he should be.
Positive is we have round 0 to answer for Sydney.
Gulden will play wing and some midfield mix. McInerney didn't play wing in the first game and we used him at HF to end last season (even before he was hurt) and Lloyd was very good on the wing when pushed there. I think they like McInerney forward because he's a pretty good leading forward option. He will play some wing also for sure.

Saints have some kids that look really promising hopefully 3-4 of them line up in round 1.
Boyd looks strong in the ruck didn't look out of place at all.
Hastie held his own in defence and had a heap of it.
Hall had a real impressive game playing fwd and pushing up the wing.
Boxshall was super impressive playing in the middle.
Garcia has made his way in my team
Even Liam O'Connell looked good.
Apart from Boyd and Garcia I didn't even know the others existed till yesterday but they really impressed me.
They all seem like excellent options who all could score well, saving us some cash.

I have been adding players to my watch list and have been thinking of deleting my team the night before and selecting it on green lights on the day.
But flying to Thailand on the 13th and then holiday mode so would probably forget to pick players. So probably not.
But the reality is that until we see the teams in round 0 and the few community matches it is all up in the air.
