I started trying to wedge in 45 players and injuries have taken it down to about 4 decisions now

Butters one of those weird, "happy" injuries where I wanted a reason to not pick him as I oscillated between Bont/Butters/LDU, now it's two which makes things a lot easier to pick from.

#nekminnit I pick Cripps and Rozee!

Butters, Rozee and JHF all probably rested forward and now one of those taken away early.

The danger is now it's down to two to increase that forward time and Drew + Wines could increase mid time.
They recruited Richards and Berry and have SPP back so shouldn't be playing forward nearly as much as they were needed last year. I expect even if they're forward it's going to be as the high extra midfielder. JHF will always have the risk of if he gets a good matchup they'll Heeney him but he's a much better mid and expect that's his main use. He's also a forward so even if he didn't improve on last year, he'd be fine as a pick.

On top of that, Butters is only listed as in doubt for round 1 right now, would indicate that he's probably not missing too much and could be back early, would also probably be the one eased back in via the forward slot so could almost help the others in that regard.

All-Australian Zak Butters is set for a stint on the sidelines after scans showed bone bruising in his knee.

While a timeline for the midfielder's return from injury is not yet known, Port Adelaide has confirmed Butters will miss the start of the season.

The 24-year-old suffered a heavy knock to his knee during the week, and is set to undergo a knee arthroscopy during the week to look at the surface of the joint and determine the extent of the injury.

A clearer picture of Butters' return to play timeline is expected after this procedure

I have them missing finals with forward and back woes. They are going to need those JHF and Rozee goals to atleast be competitive.

That picture shows the new age training methods. They bring in mimes to act out what pressure looks like, to get the players prepared for the season! New touchy feely approach to keep everyone "in their safe place". It works, unless the players suffer from metamfiezomaiophobia*.

* Fear of people with painted faces: clowns, mimes, Kabuki dancers etc.
