Fyfe turned down over a million a season at GWS and a 7 year deal at another unknown club. Any one want to have a guess at what club it might have been?

Gotta be the Hawks? Go for Fyfe first, fail, then go for Mundy second?

They probably had a go at Barlow before he re-signed too.

I hope the Hawks had a fair crack at him, would have been perfect for us.

EDIT: Sorry Jay if this post has gone too far on this issue for a SC site. If it has feel free to delete. I am just a little but passionate!
Thought the whole point of this thread is to talk AFL in general, not just SC related. I think it's great reading peoples views on this site about issues such as the Essendon / ASADA case compared to other AFL forums which I have used in the past where the majority of posters have perfected the art of trolling.

Apparently the Western Bulldogs overheard the Sydney recruiting committee discussing how they will use COLA to recruit Fyfe for 7 years.

The Bulldogs immediately offered Fyfe a 7 year deal as well as unlimited use of Paul Dimattina's coke fridge.

I have already forgiven the Club for whatever misgivings they made.

The Club has already paid a massive cost for their lack if crossing T's and dotting I's.

I love the Essendon Football Club, whatever blame lands at their feet the rest of the world has far more than done enough to let them know.

This won't end quickly anymore.

Anyway, back on point. This won't end soon. There is still a hell of a lot more to come out. The best case scenario is that all of the truth comes out. And I don't just mean from the Essendon focussed side of things but I also hope all of the others players in this saga are held accountable for their actions.

Agreed, and think what you wrote is all fine Phil.
No need to edit imho.

I agree with most of what was said, but if I hear Essendon fans in general, and by that, I certainly do not mean the sensible balanced ones like Phil, but the nutter ones that think Essendon as a club are the victims here I think I'll throw up. The players are victims to some extent and for mine, Doc Reid to some extent, but not the club and all the people in charge that allowed it to go on are anything but victims. They have paid a heavy cost already as a club for mismanaging an area of the club that should never have been run so recklessly. The AFL dealt with the club as an entity last season for bringing game into disrepute.
Unfortunately for Essendon players ASADA always wanted to also deal with the players as individuals themselves. This will also include Monfries at Port, Crameri at Bulldogs and Gumbleton at Freo. I think the players were stupid for signing any type of waiver forms without knowing much about these supplements. There is no way any of them are cheats in my eyes. I think any fans of any clubs calling them cheats are friggin idiots. Jobe Watson getting booed in Perth last season was a friggin joke how dumb some people can be in a mob situation.

It is a right royal mess all these people got themselves into. They are the victims of Essendon's horrible mistakes but stupid for not asking questions at the time. Hopefully no player gets two years for this stupidity that went on. Meanwhile the central figure to all this has MANY legal issues to deal with.
Missed 7-30 report the other day but won't comment on that as it is wiser to let the legal people work out what really went on there.

"So we feel the best for this week is that it's Scott's turn. And it's going to be Nic's turn soon and it's going to be Coxy's turn again at some stage.

Hawks are the obvious candidate with their 'buddy money'. We can't forget that Essendon tried to get Dustin Martin and Geelong went for Heath Shaw, meaning both those clubs obviously have a good amount in their salary cap too. It's fair to say Melbourne would have a lot of room too, with Roos repeatedly stating they need a star midfielder.

Imagine if it was actually Sydney!
The AFL would go into meltdown!

God, I hope Carlton are big time into chasing Patton or Jeremy Cameron if they even half thinking of not signing with Giants in a year or two.
I personally doubt Cameron will go anywhere but Patton maybe gettable. Boyd also but early days for him but I reckon he will go at some stage...

Patton starting showing signs of what he can do in recent weeks.
He's going to be a gun. Not as exciting as Cameron BUT ever bit as influential on games he will become.

When Gold Coast set their club out with early drafts, the picked the eyes out of the gun mids on offer.

Giants have not really been able to do the same when they had their turn to start off but geez their key position forwards are top shelf!!!! I think they will better batch of key forwards than we got in league at moment.
Their upside is way above the likes of Travis Cloke. Cameron could be every bit as good as the Jono Brown, Carey, Kernahan type company. I fear for club recruiters trying to find key defenders to put on Giant key forwards if Gaints managed to keep all of Cameron, Patton, Boyd and Tomlinson. 3 or 4 years time will be scary if all still playing together.

Gold Coast with guys like Rory Thompson and May will be only club likely to contain them to some extent.

Every club will think that. Trust me, Richmond, Carlton and Collingwood will all be putting in bids if any sign these guys are gettable. Plus many other clubs. With the new salary cap rules where you can cut costs one year to spend up big the next.. it will becoming interesting...

Damian Barrett on his sliding doors article - "IF you're Tom Boyd, THEN you're going to be mightily rankled today at being axed. You'd also be entitled to start pondering the multiple big offers to play elsewhere that are already in front of you."

Perhaps a bit premature, but he does have a point. At least one of the big three will go you'd have to think. GWS wouldn't even be affected THAT badly, they've got Adam Tomlinson, Cameron McCarthy and Kristian Jaksch all capable of playing key forward.

Damo likes to tell us how other people should feel. Not every player that gets dropped cracks the sads and demands a trade. Some would take it as a challenge to get back into the team and perform. Says more about Barrett than Boyd IMO.

I completely agree. Nonetheless, all three of them are going to get massive offers thrown at them over the next couple of years. I don't see all three of them being at GWS in 5 years, and that's just my opinion.

Some contract news...

David Mundy has officially turned down a three year deal to re-sign with Fremantle, and will not budge on a four year deal which could be the difference in him staying in Perth or returning to Victoria.
