Hi Row, looks like another carnage round for most so I'm here for advice on how to soften the blow...

So far I have identified 4 major areas that need fixing, although none of them too serious. Oh and I have 4 trades and only $6k left in the kitty lolz!

1. Sandilands out this week and Derickx not certain to play another game this season
Should I cop the donut? Should I just trade out Sandilands since he seems to be declining and may need another rest? Should I trade Derickx out to Ben Brown and use him as cover and build up my kitty as well?

2. The mighty Gazza
This one is pretty straightforward, trade him out for the next best value MID and I'm looking at JPK. Only problem is I may need to do this trade early this week to raise cash for my others trade.

3. May not have MID cover this week due to Shenton dropped
Only positive here is that he won't drop further in value but I feel his time is up and time to move on. But my lack of cash and lack of trades may be the hindering factor here. If Hartung plays next week then I will have some sort of cover for any late outs.

4. Hawk for Hawk
My initial trade plan for the week was to do Suckling to Mitchell. Looks like it won't get done now with the above scenarios taking priority. What are you thoughts? Is Suckling to Mitchell a waste of a trade?

Hey Rowsus, looking to take a huge punt on going Sandi>NicNat with 3 trades left. My bet with my mate is over and long gone, I'm ranked at 16k and this could fuel a league win. Bar injury, how do you see Nicnat scoring from here?

Cheers
Hey dyii,
with only 3 trades left, unless it is a must win match-up, I think you just take the donut.
I think NicNat's scoring will be up and down, though potentially he scores well in the last 2 games of the season (Melb & GC).
I think if you are locked into trading Sandi, possibly to protest/increase your Ranking, you have 3 choices. Minson, who will only cost you $2,700. Ceglar seems to be first choice at Haw, and has averaged 95 the last 5 weeks, will put $81k in your bank, or you go Currie to Cameron Wood at a cost $5,000, then you have Wood as back up/loopholing when Sandi is back. I think Wood will play a few games, as Warnock has been dreadful lately.
Good luck :)

PLEASE PLEASE HELP!!! A mate referred me here coz I have the TOUGHEST 2 questions of my sc year... I have 2 trades left just going for league win currently 7th safe in the 8 guaranteed with ablett still in my side n mcgovern on field 29k in the bank...my questions are 1. Which combo do I go for out of heppell/motlop, gray/jack, mitchell/boomer, ward/426k fwd (already have breust) or any other fwd mid combo for 1.03 mil... question 2. Do I do the trades now considering a price drop n increase here n there can cost me those combos n leave me with little to no bench cover for rest of the season or take the risk n wait? If I get the boomer mitchell combo takin mitchell this week means I can hold off on boomer for abother 2-3 weeks
Hi Manu, welcome aboard.
I think Mitchell this week and waiting with your last trade is your best move. It will give you plenty of cash to max your last your trade. I'd wait for 2 or 3 weeks, and see if any other disaster hit, and if it's all good, then McGovern to Boomer is dfefinitely a good option.
Good luck :)

Thank you so much Rowsus for your advice and your help throughout the year. For some reason i cant convince myself not to buy rocky because i see him as a must have.

If i do the original trade langdon to mitchell, do you think ablett to dal santo is a good buy? Dal santo is tricky but he has a good draw and can go large or would you place priddis sidebottom and ward in front of dal santo?

Thanks
Happy to help Ad,
To be honest, all 4 are probably good choices. Priddis is in 3.5% of teams, and Sidey 1.5%. Given Swan is out, I think I'd go Sidey. He's having a great season, and as you can see, he's a big POD.
Good luck :)

think I want to trade Sandilands. The game away to Brisbane is a worry for me.

It's either 211 to Goldy

Or Switch S.Martin to R2 and trade 211 for Parker. Thoughts?

After this I have 2 trades

Hi MMM,
1. I'd ride the donut, or go Derickx to C Wood. He is cheaper than Brown, will outscore Brown, and should play a few games as Warnock has been terrible!

2. JPK looks the good choice, given you have most of the other major players.

3. Shentons time has come. Maybe the Derickx to Wood cash will make Shentons fix easy! :p

4. Mitchell looks good value, but unless you are happy to take the Sandi donut, I can't see how you take him this week. I don't think taking Mitchell for Ablett works so well in your case. I think you miss him, or pay a bit more for him next week.

I'd probably go Derickx to Wood, which gives back up and loopholing.
From there, you could go Suckling to Mitchell, if you are desperate for that upgrade, and play McG in your Fwd line for one week, and go Ablett to JPK next week. Or you go Ablett to JPK this week, and asess what happening next Round as to if you can afford trade-wise to swap Suckling and Mitchell.
Good luck :)

I'm really worried about committing to S Martin as R2. Leuey should be back, and you might be left with a 80/game R2. Not very satisfactory. Go Goldy or Minson, if you are committed to trading Sandi.

I'm guessing u don't have any worse other D/m premiums in defense, but just checking as then u could obviously swap them with mitchell.
Swallow, McVeigh, Bartel and J Hunt. I don't want to put J Hunt into the mids because it is late outs that I don't find out about that I want to cover. Swallow without Ablett could improve his scoring, McVeigh has become a consistently good scorer. Jimmy Bartel or Sam Mitchell? Toss a coin. I might change them depending on history and loopholing opportunities.

follow up question. Martin is already F6. With the lack of trades its almost a question of Parker vs Sandilands from this week? lol

Hi Bobbie,
I think Martin might be a trap! If you can afford to ride the donut, i'd just do it.
If you trade Sandi out, go Minson and SJ or Jack. I feel confident those combinations will safely outscore Martin and whoever.
I don't think any of the M/F's or F's your missing will outscore Jack/SJ.
Good luck :)
Hi Rowsus. I had a (crazy?) thought and was looking at Mitchell as a potential trade for Swan. He is only $412K so I would be able to save my pennies for a rainy day. Or do you think I should just spend the coin on Jack/SJ?

Rowsus my friend thank you for your wise words. I will do Derickx to Wood and hope that he can be a good cover for the rest of the season. Will save my 2nd trade till next week.
Cheers mate!

what is the word on looney? He was playing neafl then I noticed he was listed as achilles?
During his 2nd NEAFL game he reported at half-time that he had a bit of discomfort in his achilles. As a precaution they took him off. Last I heard he's on track for an AFL return in Round 19.

If it truly comes down to "It's either Parker or Sandi!", then it probably is Parker........ probably, but not certainly.

I don't think it works too well, unless you are confident Mitchell average at least 105 from here. He's still a good chance to miss a game or two, and you Def coverage isn't great. Unless you are intending to turn Georgiou into J Hunt, I think I'd keep it simple, and go SJ (or Jack).
Good luck :)

The 94 looked pretty good, considering he was badly beaten at H/O's. I'm just spewing Brown was a late out. It "forced" more people onto Wood, and I was very confident he was a better pick than Brown.
I'm glad it's worked out ok so far, MMM. ;)

Rowsus,

With Griffen now back in for the Bulldogs, is Liberatore now a safer bet for the rest of the year? Tossing up between him and JPK.

Hey TBO,
you never know when Griffo will disappear again, so JPK is probably safer.
Good luck :)

Hi Rowsus,

Really need your help and most likely with only 5 trades left, for the last time this season. Have $325,000 to spend.

This week was looking at Tyson to JPK or waiting one more week to see if his price drops again - don't see it moving down to much more. I also need to upgrade McGovern to say Gray which will require another downgrade.

My problem at the minute is Thompson/Wingard and their yo-yo scoring. Could solve Thompson by sideways to Mitchell? Only that trades are like gold at the pointy end.

Always enjoy seeing how you see something that a lot of us coaches miss.

Thanks for all the previous advice this year - as last year, this is the forum on Supercoach Scores I most enjoy and head to first. 90% of the time I get my answers from your advice to all our other coaches.

cheers

Side note: sitting top four in 4 leagues and 6th so don't need to do anything rash to make league finals.
Hi Saint,
great to hear your season is going so well! :)
Given the likelihood that Tyson will raise a bit, and JPK will drop a bit, I'd hold off one more week on that trade.
Your observation on Wingard/SDT is spot on. That would be a luxury trade that you just can't afford right now, but it also why you are saving every dollar you can. That way, when you decide it's safe to move on one of them, you have as much cash as possible to upgrade them. The potential $20k saved by waiting on JPK (Tyson +10, JPK -10) could be huge on your final trade.
So possibly this week you go Tyson to Gray? Gray's B/E is 24 lower than JPK's, and he has the "easy" Melbourne game.
Next week swap Gray and Shenton, downgrade McGovern, and upgrade Shenton to JPK.
It doesn't help your Def, but I think you really need to drag 2 trades to the finals.
Good luck :)
Hey Saint,
hopefully you decided to wait a week on Tyson ---> JPK, Tyson's 159 could be pretty useful. Otherwise, I hope you went my suggestion of Tyson ---> Gray, his 139 is probably not a bad score to bank against whatever JPK will score next week.
Whatever road you took, I hope it worked out for you! :)

Hi Rowsus

i have followed your advice and brought in grey for ablett which worked well, and langdon for mitchell.

Next week i will trade a rookie and i will have approx 637k in the bank. I would love to go rockcliff as he can avg high for the supercoach finals however if i complete the trade then i will have to keep roughhead in my squad. I was wondering if you were able to complete an analysis on a few players and how much will they avg for the rest of the season. The players that i am considering is ward, sloane, dal santo and sidebottom.

Thanks
