Think they may have told him before the vfl granny and that's why he played such a ripper game
He would've known around June he was going to get delisted. Unless they find someone else to fill the spot (eg: development player) I would imagine the Dogs would rookie him this draft. Not the worst replacement if a half back flanker does a knee early on in the year.

I mean more long term. EG after Sandilands and Griffin are gone.

I'm in a UF keeper league. My rucks are Minson, Cox, West, King and A.Smith. I'm currently in my premiership window. I was runners up this season purely losing the final based on one player (had of I kept my monday line up I would have won ***)

Obviously Cox is gone, West is injured and Martin has taken over. So ATM I only have one playing ruck and need 2.

I've been offered a trade that sees me receive Sandilands, Hannath, Petrie in exchange for Kerridge, King, Pick 27 and Pick 41. I probably wont even use pick 41.

So I would have sandilands for now, just wanting to know if hannath is a better prospect than King. Not ideal to be playing a donut all season but obviously with Cox I had a donut in the GF and I still could have won.
Take this advice with a grain of salt, I'm not experts on both these teams' lists - just a preface.

If there's one thing Freo have, it is a ton of rucks.

Sandi
Clarke
Griffin
Hannath
Moller
Apeness

Both Hannath and Moller played last year when they were swamped with injures but Hannath was in front. Apeness is being groomed more as a forward at the moment, but obviously at his height he would be involved somewhat in rucking. Freo forward line looks at the moment post-Pav something like:
Crozier, Taberner, Walters
Ballantyne, Spud Traded as #1 Forward :)P), Apeness

Post-15 if the two mentioned are gone you'd probably look at:

Clarke - #1
Apeness - filling that #2 role whilst forward
Hannath - #2 tap ruck
Moller

So right now you're looking at him as a future back up ruck at current pace, with Moller the only concern. I'd research him and see if he'll get promoted from rookie list. If he does, probably means that Sandi/Griffin are gone and they see him fighting Hannath for the #2. Conversely if he's delisted from rookie list, then it probably means that Apeness is definitely rated for that forward/ruck role, which may impact his game time.

Melbourne looks a bit tougher to rate. Post Jamar it appears that Gawn is the heir-incumbent, and he's up in the forward line currently. Spencer and Fitzpatrick have all played up forward but they're ruck too, but at least one of them isn't going to make it, assuming Fitzy. So that bumps King up a slot. At best case scenario he might be a backup on the list to Gawn, at worst he'll be third in line with a couple of others (like Spencer) preferred to be that second ruck playing forward.

Again, looking post-15:
Hannath - 2nd ruck, 3rd in line for games
King - 2/3rd ruck, 3rd in line for games

Hannath's future is clearer than King, though both aren't necessarily great.

So overall, not knowing what your draft depth is like, I'd say that's a good trade for you if your premiership window is only next season. Because Sandi + Petrie aren't likely to give you any production after that. Kerridge is good project-mid who's tagging at the moment so his numbers will be quite low - but Adelaide are stacked well for mids so ok to lose.

SEN are reporting that Clarke is on the trade table. With Griffin likely to go back to Adelaide take and run!
***!

I don't disagree with trading Clarke while he still has some currency but they either think Sandi will be good for a few more years, Hannath, Moller and Apeness are going to mature early or they have Paddy Ryder (East Fremantle boy). The plot thickens.

Default answer here is "it's SEN" I guess. You would think Clarke is heir apparent. Moller has been playing reserve football this year though - no way is he a monty to even make it at AFL level!

Just the fact he is banned from attending their B & F night speaks volumes.
It really sounds like Essendon want to wipe the slate as clean as possible, put all this ASADA etc stuff behind them, and start again.
Who could blame them? It sounds like a great idea to me. Hird will bring too much luggage back to the Club.

President Paul Little to make his speech at 8:30pm (Ten minutes time as I type this). I wonder how much detail he will talk about the massive white elephant in the room....

PS Ryder and Jetta a no show at the B & F.

Don't believe either. Noone knows until actual statements are made. This is second hand info but there were even staff members last night who had no idea what is happening re the coaches.

Time to take a deep breath and wait and see.

I think if Hird lodges those appeal papers it is all over for him as coach. I think that is all Little and board waiting on before parting of ways officially.
If Hird then decides to attack them too, oh my god, hopefully he does not but I can see the possibility of him even doing that.
Just because they do not want to appeal and he does, may not be enough for him to see reason to not be allowed to coach the team.
He may reason, if they went to court for same reasons as him, then they originally were on same page so he should not be sacked if he wants to pursue the same line and they now no longer want to. If he follows that reasoning he may say unfair dismissal to them if they try to sack him. What needs to happen is he needs to agree with them, they no longer on same page so part ways on good terms. Whether that happens or not is another thing.

For the players themselves. They just need and want to get this over with. The club and Hird delayed this stuff and made it more messy than it needed to be. I for one have never fully understood the logic of both Essendon or Hird. Little and Hird say some very strange things. What amazes me most is Little appointed Hird two years exactly when AFL fined and suspended him for bringing game into disrepute. Little was also not there when things went on originally with supplements and injections drama so how he can seem to speak with authority of versions of what actually happened I find weird. Also find it weird that Mark Thompson is seen as the good guy in all this but in reality he was the person with strongest links to Dank in first place and probably the reason Essendon brought him to club. The only difference with Thompson and Hird is, Thompson seems to accept a little responsibility for what went on, rather than trying to make out he is a victim. But he wants to make up for what went on.
If Little sacks Hird now after he gave him a two year extension and needs to pay him out he probably needs to sack himself too for just being bloody stupid himself. If Essendon want a total fresh start they not only need Hird and Little to go, they probably need Thompson to go too. I don't see that happening though. The Wheapon got sacked, Dank went, Robran went, Corcoran went. Hird and Thompson still there. If they both go it really is a fresh start. If Thompson stays it is not totally clean but least the guy involved wants to clean up some of the mess of something he had a lot to do with. He is the only guy that has come even close to making some sense. The bottom line is they got themselves into this mess. They need to be the ones getting out of it. But pllllzz no more victim card stories or I will throw up.

Paul Little:James Hird is the current coach of the Essendon Football Club...the board will be meeting to determine a strategy going forward.

Paul Little: We would've preferred James (Hird) had not appealed (Federal Court decision). We're still talking to him about that decision.

I just read Hird statement.
He believes an appeal will be successful. If he believes that, fair enough, appeal. Why he did not originally make a stand when investigation was under way, legally make a stand I mean, I do not fully get. In any case he sounds determined to appeal. I would think with such a strong view and appeal in place would be hard to coach the club at same time. Good luck convincing Essendon board to allow you to still coach whilst the legal stuff plays out.
